I would think right now we are in a position where we will give the world for Lito Sheppard. I mean I would love to have Shockey but until he can cover a wide receiver he will not do us much good. I mean Drews passings stats were still crazy last year withought Shockey. We will need to keep our drafts picks to use for trade bait for a cb

He's not a must. The Eagles would LOVE to deal with you.

Not a must? Your starting 3 are Young, David, and Craft. Feeling good? Oh yea, don't worry, because we have Harper and Bullocks over the top.

If I was an opposing team and I saw this line-up of DB's lining up, I wouldn't even put a rb in and play action would just be a waste of time.

the position is a need, and Lito is a want. You know how the saying goes want in one hand and BM in the other and tell me which one fills up first.

The Eagles are working on a trade Sheppard for Fitzgerald so unless we're willing to ship them a top WR we won't be getting him. I also I doubt the Eagles would be too receptive dealing with the team that beat them in the playoffs two years ago. I've read through a few other NFC teams message boards. Seems that after trading Vilma fans started remembering how good the Saints were '06. But since we didn't address CB or DT those opposing fans are convinced we'll still be bad defensely and a non threat. I imagine most NFC FOs think similarly. So why would give us a piece to help complete the puzzle?

I have a hard time calling any player that misses on average 38% of the season on injuries a "must."

I saw that report... do you think Philly would cough up that kind of money to Fitz? They could very well try to sign Bryant Johnson or Randy Moss, and deal Lito for a pick.

That's the problem with whatever approach the Saints are using for free age...oh wait I forgot. It's not actually their faults, it's the city's fault because free agents don't wanna come here.

Anyways, I'm finding it pretty disturbing that the Saints are showing no urgency. It makes me think that they think the D wasn't really that bad last year.

Do you really want urgency on a guy that rides the pine for almost half the season?

Do we play today? There is 6 months until the start of the regular season. 6 months. A lot can happen in 6 months. We haven't even drafted yet.

All I'll say is that it's not a good sign when we are looking to the draft, the DRAFT, to look for multiple starters. LOL it's kinda like hoping to hit the lottery so you can pay your apartment rent. We're not close to being a championship team if we're banking on rookies to come in and fill multiple starting positions and succeed, without a somewhat decent supporting cast.

I agree w/ Goldrush26 we are trying to sign a trouble maker in Shockey instead of concentrateing on Def. and to consider giving up draft picks for him makes me sick. Shockey overrated Boss played better w/ less drama.

CB is a must, but according to the reports, I guess Philly wants a WR and I don't think we should entertain that idea. I'm sure they'll want someone too good and we just can't afford that right now. I'd take Lito in a heart beat though.

I guess Gay is still an option though.

TiRider has a point though. We were pretty good two years ago, giving us an important piece to our puzzle in the NFC isn't a wise move.
