A native of Baton Rouge and former two-way standout at Central High School, McClure broke into the lineup at LSU as a freshman in 1995 when starting center Marcus Carmouche went down with a knee injury. He was consensus All-SEC first-team choice his junior and senior seasons at LSU. A seventh-round pick by Atlanta in 1999, McClure started 74 consecutive games and 89 of the Falcons' past 90 games.
