This is the only show that's cancellation actually got me truly angry and upset.

Glad to see they finally got something off the ground but at this point it would of been nice to see a mini series over a one shot movie. But I'll take any more Milch where I can get it.
 
after just watching Guy on a Buffalo im not sure any other western is worth watching....

Make sure you give it about half a season.

It is definitely a true classic HBO show in that it is very much novel-like in it's arc, where like The Wire, it is a slow build that takes a number of episodes to build up.
 
My family notices that after watching Deadwood I use the word ****inh a lot more often and answer their questions with a monologue of $10 words instead of the customary yes, no, grunt or scoff.

It also takes a while to get used to the language. It's strong enough to make a hooker blush.
But it is worth it.
