Dr. Z predicts the Giants and Panthers to make the wildcard. And here's how:
"Here's how it will happen: They'll get hold of themselves Sunday in Carolina and their defense will topple a shaky Jake Delhomme. A week later they'll bring Jeff Garcia and the Eagles to earth, and again their defense will set the tone. New Orleans the day before Christmas will be the game that will make their season. The Saints' secondary will be exposed. Eli Manning will choose this afternoon to have one of his hot days, and gamblers who bet the over will cover by halftime. The inevitable letdown will follow in Washington for the finale, but the Giants' 9-7 record will assign them the fifth seed in the playoffs.
The Eagles, minus their wounded quarterback and losers of five of their last seven, will take a big hit at Giants Stadium on the 17th and then another one at Dallas a week later. Victories over Washington and Atlanta will close them out at 8-8. The Panthers, whose QB, Delhomme, seems to have lost a grip on his game, will end up with the same mark. They've lost their last two, and although their offense shows occasional flashes from Steve Smith and DeAngelo Williams, there's no coherence to it. They'll lose to the Giants and then to Atlanta, while beating Pittsburgh and then New Orleans, in an upset, in the finale."
See who gets the beatdown in both those scenarios?
