Looking at new desktop PC setup (1 Viewer)

I ended up getting a surplus Dell Optiplex from work, the IT guy did me a solid and pulled one of the newer ones. Intel 5 4th gen 3.4 ghz, 8 GB ram, 240 gb solid state drive and a 500 gb hdd. It doesn't have a disk drive but I'm pretty sure I can handle that.

External optical drive ~30 bux

Sounds pretty sweet... Just remember if you decide to upgrade the graphics upgrade the PSU as well. Kinda a rule of thumb.

There's a place inside for a disk drive, it just has one of those blank plastic spacers there right now. I don't think I'll have too much trouble taking the drive out of my old computer and putting it in this one.

I'm not a gamer at all, so I don't think a graphics upgrade will ever be a thing I need. Hopefully this one lasts me as long as the current one has.

Yeah, you'll be good for years

It also has built-in HDMI , which is awesome. Watching Saints games next season is going to be so much better. I can already tell from watching a few Youtube videos, this is a whole world away from my old HP.

I got a great deal on Amazon for a 32in 4K display. It will make all the difference. Even for onboard graphics as some modern onboard chips are premium.

I have a 42 inch 1080 plasma TV and it hooked it up for kicks and it's just waaaaaaaaaay too big even if I kick my chair back to a 5 foot distance. I was kind of hoping to get a smaller smart TV for this setup but I may just settle on a 27 inch monitor.
