The fact we got by in 2009 with the worst DT position group is astounding.

Demario Pressley
Sedrick Ellis
Rodney Leslie
Kendrick Clancy
Remi Ayodele

Like wow... now I understand why we had to blitz so much.

The defensive line as a whole just seemed to play a lot better at home in 2009. I remember one of the announcers quoting Gregg Williams at one point as saying "they just don't have the same get-off on the road that they do at home".

Which is probably why it was a good thing that the Saints only ended up playing one playoff team on the road in the regular season, that being the blowout victory over the Eagles without McNabb. And it's not like they simply destroyed all the bad teams on the road, either.....as evidenced by the Dolphins, Rams and Redskins games.

We did give up way more yards and points compared to 2017-2022. We got by by creating a crap ton of turnovers and bringing the wood to everyone we played.
Yep tons of opportunistic turnovers. Sharper was an absolute ballhawk.
