Looking for tips - riding in a Mardi Gras Parade (1 Viewer)

For those of you who have rode in NOLA parades, did yall ever get the whole "safety" rundown before the ride? When I used to ride they would prep us on what to do if we heard gunshots, how to deal with people throwing beads back etc. I mentioned this to someone the other day who rides and they never heard of this before.

Yeah, we got that talk.......when you hear gunshots, go ahead and give the shooter your best beads and the stuffed animals. Do NOT negotiate or try to resist.

We had a bunch of water to drink, some little sandwiches to munch on, and my aunt even had some jambalaya in some bags that keep heat in. I grabbed the sunscreen from my golf bag, and my father-in-law would have toast otherwise.

No safety talks either. Just be on the float at noon, and pick up all your trash after you are done.
