This is the race the entire business community and political community was watching as both groups are in agreement that this race really will dictate the future not just of Orleans but also that of the state. The old established politicians, Sen. Landrieu, and the rabble rousing politicians/so-called civic leaders are realing right now with this vote. It confirms what Eliot Stonecipher the demographer from Shreveport has been saying in that Orleans Parish is now a majority caucasian city and socio-economically the city is wealthier.

In 2010 the City Council has to be redistricted within 6 months of the census coming out. This will be the most significant shift politically in the history of New Orleans since reconstruction.

In Orleans the amendment passed with almost 70% of the vote.

Dear New Orleans,

You're welcome. Don't screw it up.

Signed,
The rest of the state
