Comic Con Talk (Renamed since LA Comic Con can't get it together) (3 Viewers)

Prices are pretty nice for Fan Expo... even better for early bird pricing.

The Family pricing tier is sheer genius. Two parents plus up to four children can get in for a few bucks more than what two adult tickets costs.

Fan Expo has announced Ron Pearlman as their first celebrity guest.

Michael Rooker has been added to Fan Expo NOLA.

Rooker loves him some cons. He's almost as frequent as Jason David Frank.

So now Mighty Cons, who decided to moved their New Orleans show to the weekend of January 7th, is scrambling to find another date despite being warned to keep things as is (they were scheduled for October at the Pontchartrain Center).

Dang, same weekend for the two shows? That should be interesting. Did they not realize Fan Expo was then?

They kept saying, "well, Wizard World is cancelled so we'll move to those dates." People were asking if they missed the rest of the story about Fan Expo taking over. Either they missed that part or they didn't and just didn't care.

Fan Expo probably puts on more shows than anyone else with perhaps the exception of ReedPop. And these days, they might be beating them out in number.

More guests announced for January including a Sons of Anarchy reunion (again) and the first slate of voice actors.

So apparently there's a new con trying to make inroads in Shreveport/Bossier and they'll be running the Bossier Civic Center:

This does not have any clear association to AVC Conventions (promoters of Louisiana, Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi Comic-Cons) and obviously has totally different branding as "SBC Comic Con" but...that absolutely looks like an AVC con guest list, right? Like they've literally been running many of those same exact names on their circuit.

However, if you dig in you'll see that it's put on by VXV Events, the founder of which was apparently a (former?) partner in AVC who is now trying to run his own cons throughout the south. He calls himself a partner (present tense) in AVC in the press release, but this certainly feels like direct competition.

Yeah. That looks like it was born right out of AVC.

I guess Mighty Cons saw the writing on the wall about going up against Fan Expo after all. They've changed their show to April.
