He's my first choice.Aranda is my #2.
He's certainly doing more with less over at Baylor. The possibility of getting a level headed coach like Aranda that really intrigues me. I haven't really looked up how well he might be able to recruit some top players in the country, but I get the feeling that he might find it somewhat easier than the competition he faces with the other big schools in Texas.
To me he has proven that the stage isn't too big for him since he has already turned Baylor into a competitive program that is now nationally ranked. If he has the connections to put a great staff together here, I see no reason why he could get LSU headed back in the right direction. I think he needs some serious consideration from the LSU brass.
Same.He's my first choice.
Others agree with us...Same.

Listen, I don’t know how much weight my Arkansas fan opinion serves, but the formula for LSU is abundantly clear. It mostly just involves getting out of their own way and choosing substance over splash.
Orgeron’s greatest success came from setting aside ego and acknowledging that the recipe for success was who he aligned himself with, most notably Brady & Aranda. It’s largely the case at Arkansas right now, with Pittman having one of the smallest egos in all of coaching as the head Hog along with big money coordinators on both sides of the ball. With the recruiting base in the state of Louisiana and the proven success of that formula, I really don’t know why LSU would not get back to that..
Who are the low-ego, bread and butter/trench football guys with Louisiana ties that cost less than the splash hires? Save money with the HC, and pay up for guys like Mike Elko, Jim Leonhard, etc to run the defense. Go young with a Graham Harrell, Sean Gleeson, etc type OC. It takes a staff and LSU has the money to spend on an elite staff. Splash HC hires are fun, but bring in a Kiffin or a Fickell for big money and I think you could flop hard. LSU doesn’t need flash.
Gimme substance over splash. Splash wears off quickly.Im just impressed that, as an Arkansas fan- you are able to string together complete sentences. …. But i honestly think you’re not wrong, and the perfect coach, based on ur description, would be Aranda…. I do think that Riley has a lot of substance though, to go along with the splash that his hiring would bring.. i would not be mad with either one, or with Napier.
Not only do I formulate complete sentences, but I will openly acknowledge that if LSU were to mimic Arkansas’ current formula, they will annually compete with Alabama and be a playoff contender. The level of recruit available and the hotbed of talent that is the state of Louisiana, where LSU is the only Power 5 team represented, is unmatched by any other blue blood.Im just impressed that, as an Arkansas fan- you are able to string together complete sentences. …. Agreed. But, I think a lot of people feel like if we get another CEO, then in a few year's time, we'll be right back in that same boat after a short run at the title. Not only do I formulate complete sentences, but I will openly acknowledge that if LSU were to mimic Arkansas’ current formula, they will annually compete with Alabama and be a playoff contender. Hell Arkansas ripped that formula straight from 2019 LSU. Orgeron was never a dynamic X & Os savant that could be the “best coach” in the room. He can recruit, he is a leader and he was able to defer to the minds of the coaches in the room with him. The hires after Brady & Aranda moved on abandoned that fact. A reset is the right move, but it shouldn’t be a complete identity reset. I think it should be new faces with the same dynamic.
That makes sense, but I think the biggest aspect of the low-ego CEO is that there’s an acknowledgment that losing good coaches comes with the territory and all you can do is replace them with the right fit. That’s what Pittman has done well, replacing Brad Davis with Cody Kennedy and that’s what LSU did when they struck gold on Brady & Aranda. Saving money at that HC spot allows you to pay the DC/OC more than market value. Guys would legitimately leave Go5 HC gigs to be paid more and control the offense/defense at a program like LSU. The trick would moreso be to find the low ego CEO.Agreed. Obviously, in an ideal world, we find someone who can do both recruiting and Xs & Os.
