LSU not sure who to hire after discovering Coach Eric Taylor is not a real person.

BATON ROUGE, LA — LSU is reportedly scrambling to identify a long-term replacement for Les Miles after finding out that the program’s №1 choice, Eric Taylor, is a fictional person from a television show.
Athletic director Joe Alleva fired Miles after Saturday’s loss to Auburn because he was confident he could lure the dynamic East Dillion Lions coach from rural Texas to Louisiana for the bright lights of the SEC. But according to sources, soon after terminating Miles, Alleva was unable to get Taylor on the phone and then ultimately discovered the coach was a character played by Kyle Chandler, a 51-year old actor from Buffalo. Panicked, Alleva then hired Ed Orgeron as LSU’s interim head coach.

I wouldn't put Petrino on the uninterested list. He has proven to be quite the liar.

I think his lack of honesty and integrity fall second to the monster buyout on his contract. Originally I had him on the LMAO list.

My first choice is Fisher.
Young enough, knows the territory, relatively clean, offensive, and big name.

Herman, after some research, is my 2nd choice. We can build a program with him if he proves himself capable. There will be a bidding war for him.

I really want a guy that wants to come in here, take ownership and establish a legacy for himself.

I say again... If Ed O wins a few games AND beats Bama, he's going to make things very interesting. I'm not opposed.

Cost ought not be a factor.

Something tells me it'll be Kingsberry.

I like those two the best, in that order as well. I thought that window for Jimbo might have been closed after last year's fiasco, but as many times as he's been asked about the LSU job the last few days he's yet to say "No" like Petrino, Shaw and Urban. It's week 5 thought, so I dont know if he can deflect that question for the next two months. For that matter, I don't know if anyone can. This is still a very long season and every coach in America is going to be asked about the LSU job at some point until the ink is dry on the contract. That's going to create a lot of awkward situations.

If I had to put money on it today, I'd say it ends up being Orgeron who brings in a offensive whiz as OC in the offseason.

I like Herman most. I think LSU should pull out all the stops to get him. Sure, we might have a hard time luring him away from Texas, but it sure can't hurt to try.

Please help me to understand why we wouldn't want Herman, who is a young, dynamic up and coming coach with head coaching experience-- over a guy like Jimbo Fisher, who has proven to be a capable coach, but is kind of a retread... I genuinely don't get it.

That said, I'm not sure we have a great shot to get Herman since IMO the USC job is sort of likely to come open again and Herman grew up as a Trojan fan in Southern California -- something tells me he'd go there... But I can't see how he wouldn't be at the top of everyone's list.

And as far as Kingsbury-- the only way I'd want him is if the other options were Petrino, Briles and Kiffin.. Besides, doesn't Kingbury already have his dream job at his own alma mater?

Herman is an excellent candidate....#2 or even #1 on most lists. There's no reason not to be excited about him.

The reason Fisher is the #1 candidate on most radars is his resume and ties to the SEC and Louisiana. To call Fisher a retread is totally off-base and an insult. He's still relatively young, won a national championship a couple years ago, is a proven winner in a major conference, has ties to coaches in the South (specifically Louisiana), has a history of developing QB talent, and is viewed as a great recruiter. I could list more accolades, but you get the picture.

Herman has a stellar resume as well, but he's only been the head guy for a few years in a sub-conference. How will he react in the pressure cooker SEC West? Competition is unmatched. Personally, I think he's ready for the jump....but there's slightly more risk with Herman than Jimbo IMO.

I sure hope it's one or the other. I will be very disappointed if they didn't go FULL OUT on one of the best in the country for this opening. Guys like Fedora and Gundy should not be on LSU's radar as far as I'm concerned.

Fisher, Herman, or bust!!! Only other story line I'm interested in is Coach O....I honestly think he will have the team ready to play the rest of the way. If they play up to their potential, LSU will be forced to consider him as a legit candidate.

What Tom Herman has done is pretty impressive, but can he do that in a Power 5 conference? We can only speculate. Is he capable of taking LSU to a NC? Is he a good fit culturally at LSU? Does he have the contacts to bring in the right assistant coaches or if he wants to keep the guys on staff, is he going to be able to come in and lead a group that's already pretty well established as the new guy?

We already know the answer to those questions with Jimbo, who is not exactly what I would call a retread.

As for Kingsbury, you never know until you ask. Rich Rodriguez had his dream job at WVU and he left. Maybe Kingsbury wants to see what it's like running that offense with Thoroughbreds and not the kids that UT, OU, TAMU, LSU, etc don't want.

I appreciate the explanation.. I do respectfully disagree, since I think that there is more upside with Herman-- I see him as a similar hire to when Florida hired a young Urban Meyer from Utah.. I wouldn't be upset with Fisher if Herman decides to pursue on of the many other offers he will have, but I would place Fisher on the same level as Orgeron, if Orgeron runs the table or only drops one, which I personally think will be the case... Also Fedora seems intriguing to me, even though I don't know as much about him.

It's perfectly fine to want Herman over Fisher. I get that.

I don't get your comment about Fisher being on the same level as Orgeron. There are no facts to back up an opinion that off-base.

Sorry, that's my fault for not being more clear... What I meant was, in this case, at this time, for *this* job-- my preference for Orgeron would be similar to my preference for Fisher... Obviously Fisher has a much better resume-- but didn't he just get thumped, giving up 63 pts to Louisville?? And as much as he has ties to La., there is NO ONE more Louisiana than Coach O... And Coach O has few peers with regards to recruiting... If we were talking about filling the job at, say Kansas St or something, then it's Fisher hands down... But for the LSU job, I think we'd be in equally capable hands with either.
