Brian Kelly, the winningest football coach in Notre Dame history, has been hired as the next head coach at LSU, where he has agreed to a 10-year, $95 million deal.

I do question how well he recruits against SEC coaches.
And he's never really had a great defense. You gotta have at least a decent defense to win in the SEC.
Hopefully it'll be a good hire.

He was hamstrung at ND regarding recruiting within ND rules (including GPA etc ). He won't have that issue here.

But he'll be recruiting against Sabin, Fisher and Smart. He didn't have to compete against those coaches up north. Not saying he won't do good just a concern.

One thing I know is he recruits nationally. I don't know if his straight laced style and process will jive in a region where things are...shall way say...grimier than he's probably familiar with.

Coming from somebody who isn't a Tigers fan...I think that Brian Kelly is a solid hire, but not a next level hire.
