LSU plans to have a Mike VII on campus in August, according to the LSU vet school. But don't expect to see him parading around Tiger Stadium on football game days.
In anticipation of his arrival, starting in April, the tiger habitat will undergo renovations in hopes of having the habitat become an accredited tiger sanctuary, according to a news release from the School of Veterinary Medicine.
That work is expected to be completed by August, the news release said.
As part of the transition, LSU has announced it is ending the game-day tradition of taking the mascot to Tiger Stadium in a trailer on game days. Instead, Mike VII will be out in his yard on home football game days, as well as the rest of the week
