Who's Giving this a try? I have to say, I'm impressed that EA is listening to fans feedback with the latest update.

Madden NFL 10 Ultimate is very interesting. I only played two games. I earned about 600 coins playing on All-Pro and just bought my first Bronze Pack.

My team is an Overall 64. This is pretty cool and a very interesting take on being a GM of a football team.

I don't know who tagged this as "ultimately crappy" but that's the best way to put it. EA is to busy suckin' coins out of a vacuum to make a quality product.

Go download the latest update. (3.0.1) They fixed some issues concerning gameplay, presentations, uniforms, and provided a new game mode Ultimate Team. Basically you purchase card packs of players that you can use from the coins you earn playing the game.

So you start with 35 players..all of whom are around 64...OVR. You then earn coins and buy bronze, silver, and platinum card packs. each card has 10 starts. (so if your lucky enough to get the Randy Moss in his prime card, use it wisely)

A lot of the updates they made to the acutal game was a result of customer feedback.

with my first pack of cards i got Chris Reis and Charleston....im 4 games in and Reis has been downgraded to just special teams...but Charleston is a beast!

I ended up buying 2 bronze packs and 2 silver packs...

I don't think this game is sustainable, meaning that unless you play every game Head to Head on the PSN, you'll never seem to get enough coin to maintain a highly rated team.

I have gotten my team up to 79 OVR, but that a high, and it seems to hover around 73 for me right now.

The only thing that stinks is if you play a USER online you have no clue about how good or bad there team is...

Bronze players get 10 games

Silver gets 6 games

Gold 3 games

Platinum - not sure never bought a pack.

I usually hold out for silver packs, but occasionally you'll have to buy Bronze to make up your depth. I also noticed that if you put your best WR at the 4th slot you can play with him and he doesn't count as a START. I think the top 2 WR's get the START on their contract.

It does suck though, Im stuck with Todd Collins as my QB and Dave Carr as my back up

I'm trying to tamper with different positions as well...

I think an update will be needed to either reduce the price of card packs or to increase the amount of coin you can gain. Currently on All-Madden I will gross around 380 with a win...

So buying and maintaing a team above 73 OVR does not really not seem to work with the current system... Unless you buy a few packs here and there...
