So patrick mahomes will win mvp, ok thats fine im over it. However i keep hearing how he is an elite qb and he is playing good not going to take that from him. Now does anybody remember RG3's first year he was lighting people up but the following year not so much. Can we at least wait until next year and see how he does when there is a whole year of tape on him? If he continues to play well then he is a good qb (not elite yet that takes years of consistancy) and not a fluke.

Yeah, RG3 lit US up his rookie year with that college offense the Redskins were running. But he wasn't anywhere near the level Mahomes is at this year.

My point was that he shouldnt be considered elite.......yet, that word gets tossed around so loosely these days. he is definitely playing very well though and maybe rg3 was a bad example, maybe i had a bad memory of him destroying us in that first game.

Actually, RGIII did have a productive rookie season. I remember him getting hurt at the end of the year and never really bounced back.

Stupid comparison.

RGIII was a gimmicky quarterback going into the NFL with accuracy problems. That was the reason many people did not want to draft him and it was such a debate over him. His rookie season was a surprise to many of us, but it was no where near the kind of year Mahomes has had. Mahomes season is comparable to Dan Marino's 1984 season where both of them were sophomore QBs at age 23 and passed for 5,000 yards and over 45+ TDs

Mahomes has far better accuracy, a cannon for an arm and as others has pointed out, he has more TDs this one season than RGIII has entire career. It's laughable that you think Mahomes shouldn't be labeled elite when he led the league in TDs and yards this year.

The only thing they really have in common is that they're both black QBs. Black QBs get the "mobile QB" label for some odd reason, as if they're all the same type of QB.

Better comparison to RGIII is Lamar Jackson, who is also a gimmicky quarterback that struggles with accuracy and relies on his legs too much.

A lot of people on this forum just hate Mahomes cause of the fact he is going to win MVP this year (same reason people are bitter towards Peyton Manning over 2009, Rodgers over 2011 as well as Newton and Ryan for having an MVP). Put your hate aside, cause this kid is the future of the league. He'll be the face of the league before 2020.
