For 2015 - If we go into Halftime losing, we are terrible. When we have the lead at the end of the 1st Quarter, we are 7-0!
“+ Points” means the Saints are winning by that amount of points.
“- Points” means the Saints are losing by that amount of points.
In 2015, the Saints only won 2 games when “Losing at Halftime.” We lost 78% of the time
Loss – Cardinals, 1st Quarter = halftime = -4 Points
Loss – Tampa, 1st Quarter = halftime = -3 Points
Loss – Carolina, 1st Quarter = +4 points; halftime = 0 Points
Loss – Eagles, 1st Quarter = halftime = -3 Points
Loss – Titans, 1st Quarter = halftime = +4 Points
Loss – Skins, 1st Quarter = -halftime = -13 Points
Loss – Houston, 1st Quarter = halftime = -8 Points
Loss – Carolina, 1st Quarter = halftime = +3 Points
Loss – Lions, 1st Quarter = -halftime = -17 Points
In 2015, When “Leading after the 1st Quarter,” the Saints were 7-0 or we Won 100% of the time
Win – Cowgirls, 1st Quarter = +4 points
Win – Falcons, 1st Quarter = +14 points
Win – Colts, 1st Quarter = +7 points
Win – Giants, 1st Quarter = +7 points
Win – Tampa, 1st Quarter = +7 points
Win – Jags, 1st Quarter = +14 points
Win – Falcons, 1st Quarter = +4 points
It's a pretty simple formula for us. Jump out to a 1st quarter lead and we win - 100%. Fall behind at halftime and we lose 78% of the time
What do we need to do differently to jump out in front in Q1 and hold onto that lead at Halftime. A very surprising stat is that in the majority of games last year, the defense held the opponents in losses to 14 points or below at halftime. The offense started very slow in the majority of losses.
