We wanted to go to Mardi Gras this year somewhere in Louisiana, especially in a small town, but things keep happening and just couldnt to it, and I'm rather bummed.

I would be most pleased if you would tell me something about your experience this week both in and out of New Orleans. I'd especially like to know about what happens in little towns like Mamou, and mid sized ones like Laffayette. A picture or two would be good. Kind of a dreary day at work--- hopefully somebody else is having fun somewhere today. Hopefully some of you have a story, or even a did-you-know Mardi Gras fact that would amaze your average Texan.

We did our thing up here in S'port. It's probably a sick joke to some on this board, but it is what it is. It's kind of a day long tailgate. Borrowed my mom's motorhome, showed up to the parkway @ about 0600 and scored a spot to park all day. My buddies eeked out a spot across the street. We drank, cooked, acted nutty all day. The kids had a great time, I played sidewalk chalk with my daughter, and my niece came along. The day ends with the Krewe of Gemini parade

Hey thanks, Thorin. Your little girl is such a cutie, and that picture is a classic---be sure to keep it handy for her wedding collage. And way to represent the black & gold!

Im not trying to be funny, but I didnt know they did Mardi Gras in Shreveport. I'd go to Mardi Gras in S'port---- will always have a soft spot for NWLA. That was exactly what I wanted to see here. Anybody else?

I saw that too. Mike, are you the Saint Mike with the black & gold bus?

No. That's the SaintMike without a space in between "Saint" and "Mike". I do wish that I owned a black & gold bus, however.

Dont we all!

Yall keep the Mardi Gras pics coming, while I sit here in sackcloth and ashes. Happy Ash Wednesday!

Now I can't wait to bring my kids to their first Mardi Gras parades. We did the St. Pat's parade one year (my sister always rides in it), and the kids loved it. Next year I think we'll have to go for a weekend; pulling them out of school for Mardi Gras Day may be tough.
