Running back Mark Ingram is expected to sign with the Baltimore Ravens when NFL free agency opens at 3 p.m. CDT Wednesday, ESPN and the NFL Network reported.
The former Alabama All-American had spent the first eight seasons of his NFL career with the New Orleans Saints. But on Tuesday, the Saints agreed to sign running back Latavius Murray to a four-year, $14.4 million contract to bring the free agent from the Minnesota Vikings. Reports indicated New Orleans turned to Murray to fill Ingram’s spot when the Saints and Ingram couldn’t reach an agreement on a contract extension.
Ingram's contract with the Ravens will be a three-year deal for $15 million, according to a variety of media reports.
Ingram is joining the most run-heavy team in the NFL. After Lamar Jackson took over from Joe Flacco as the Ravens' starting quarterback in 2018, Baltimore passed on only about 38 percent of its offensive snaps while Jackson set an NFL single-season record for rushing attempts by a quarterback, even though he started just seven games.
