Not sure where you heard that from but Sanchez has a 0.00000% chance of being released this year. His $8.25 million salary is guaranteed this season. His total cap hit would come to $17.15 million if he is released.

Next year is a different story.. none of his salary is guaranteed and his cap hit would be 4.8 million.

There's a very real chance of it happening, even with the hit they'd take. They have five QBs in house: Sanchez, Tebow, David Garrard, Smith, and Matt Simms. Three of the five are gone by the end of camp. Obviously, they've decided to go in another direction. Why taint your future's (Smith) learning curve by holding onto someone who you want to get rid of? I think they'll take there lumps and cut Sanchez sooner rather than later.
