Mass shooting in Buffalo NY. (2 Viewers)

A British man may be extradited to the US after a UK court convicted him of publishing extremist material that inspired the gunman behind a mass shooting that left 10 people dead in Buffalo, New York.

The Times reports that Daniel Harris, 19, made videos that praised right-wing extremists, celebrated acts of ideological violence, and promoted insurrection and terrorism.

One of Harris’s regular viewers was Payton Gendron, 19, who would go on to kill 10 people — all Black — shopping at a Topps grocery store in May.

Investigators did not have to look far to establish the link between Gendron and Harris; the former included screenshots of the latter’s videos in a manifesto he created. The video included calls for white Europeans to carry out a “genocide” against people of colour living in Europe.

During Harris’s trial, the court was told that he celebrated the Buffalo mass shooting in a video he posted just hours after the attack.

Gendron left a comment for Harris on one of his videos, assuring him that “you are not alone my friend,” with a smiling emoticon.

Harris was ultimately found guilty of one terrorism charge and acquitted of another. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison and may now be extradited to the US…….

The city of Buffalo, New York, filed a lawsuit against several gun manufacturers and distributors Tuesday, alleging they fueled violence in the city by making or providing “thousands of firearms recovered in crimes committed in the City of Buffalo and New York State.”

The suit filed in the Erie County branch of New York’s Supreme Court alleges firearm companies like Smith and Wesson, Beretta, Remington, Glock, and Bushmaster as well as what the lawsuit terms “ghost gun companies,” including Arm or Ally and Polymer80, contributed to a condition “that endangers the safety and health of the public” of the city.

“Members of our community have suffered too much and for too long from gun violence,” Buffalo Mayor Byron W. Brown said at a news conference Tuesday. “We must do everything we can to decrease gun violence. Enabling the possession of illegal guns destroys lives and deeply affects our neighborhoods, especially in Black and Brown communities.”

The lawsuit comes seven months after 10 people were killed and three were wounded in a racially motivated mass shooting at a Tops Friendly Market in a predominantly Black area of Buffalo.

The gunman, who is White, pleaded guilty last month to one count of domestic act of terrorism motivated by hate, 10 counts of first-degree murder, three counts of attempted murder and a weapons possession charge.

He used a Bushmaster XM-15 in the attack, the same model used by the shooter in the 2012 mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut which resulted in the deaths of 20 first graders and six adults, the lawsuit states.

The city is seeking compensatory and punitive damages from the defendants, including money for an “abatement fund with sufficient capital to eliminate the public nuisance they are responsible for creating, exacerbating, and/or perpetuating,” the lawsuit states.

CNN reached out to the named defendants and the National Rifle Association for comment.

“We have not had a chance to review the allegations in full at this time, but upon first blush, the verified allegations against Bushmaster Firearms Industries, Inc. are false,” gun manufacturer Bushmaster said in a statement. “Our counsel is currently reviewing the complaint and evaluating a path forward to address both this lawsuit and the potentially libelous claims made against Bushmaster Firearms Industries, Inc.”...........

I never understood how you can sue a company that legally manufactures a legal item that is owned legally by millions of people that aren't homicidal maniacs. It would be like suing Ford Motor Company because some a-hole ran down a bunch of people on purpose driving an F150.
If they want to go after someone, go after the government that makes purchasing these weapons too easy.

From my understanding, California and NY have both pursued lawsuits after the supreme court opened this door by making it legal to file lawsuits against medical providers performing abortions or something along those lines. If I remember reading it correctly back in the spring, these lawsuits are going to force the supreme court to go against tgeir own ruling or throw gun manufacturers under the bus.

I’d love if someone who knows more than me can fill in the massive gaps I have left behind.

Edit, found it.

So I’m assuming Buffalo and NY are doing the same thing as California. The mass shootings are almost exclusively taking place with guns not legal in the state. So when SCOTUS kicked abortions down to state levels it opened this door.

I honestly do bot know what to think about this outside of fork SCOTUS for playing partisan games. So I’m happy from CA and NY trolling them with these lawsuits but I’m also quite certain there is no winning by playing these games.
