Saints Michael Thomas “has a shot” to play Week 2 (1 Viewer)

I was listening to 105.9 ESPN the zone this morning and they had some guest named Lee who was trying to sell picks for like $299 for the month and said he had a 50 unit winner LMAO.

First of all, if everyone bets 50 units on something, I can promise you it’s worth it for Vegas, the NFL, and every official to prevent it. But I digress.

His reasoning was 1. No Michael Thomas. 2. Road Game 3. Different time Zone 4. Late game.

I texted in and just said their reasoning is basically God awful. The Saints are a great road team and are one of the best prime time teams in history. Now I’m seeing that Michael Thomas may play. Even more proof this 1970’s used car salesman is full of it.

Had he just been honest and said that the chances of the NFL screwing the Saints in order to make the first ever home game in Vegas a huge success for the franchise and the Casinos is really high, I would’ve found it hard to disagree, lol.

Dont think I’ve ever been rooting harder for the Saints to destroy a team than this week.

Never thought for a moment he was missing "several weeks" (that means 3,4,5). I think we'll sit him this week though maybe even next week but I think he'll be good to go after that.

Sequan Barkley's last year was much worse than Thomas' and he only missed 2 games. Thomas is pretty tough but I'd rest him this week and then really check on him for the Green Bay game. That game is more important.

One thing for certain Thomas is tougher than a 2 dollar steak. You don't become the best receiver in the NFL without playing through discomfort

I think he should sit to be safe, but at the same time, if it didn’t come from Payton idk how much I believe the multiple weeks thing.

The raiders starters are pretty banged up so we might not need him to play. The overall goal is bigger than week 2, play it safe.

I don't mind possibly losing a game that we should definitely win in week two. High ankle sprains can be a season thing if you don't handle them right. We are a game up in the division with 5 more division games left. A week 2 game against a beatable AFC opponent would be a perfect time to let him heal up just a bit more.

We are talking about a guy that played with a broken hand last year. He’s tough and will def play through it if he feels he can. With that being said, I’d rest him this week at least and reevaluate next week. After all Teddy and the Panthers moved the ball pretty easily on the Raiders Defense. I have no doubts we can do the same.

The guy is a warrior who has the passion to play through anything. I respect that but at the same time you have to be smart about it. You have to think about the long game. If the Saints are going to make a run at the whole thing then they'll need MT.

Some players will happily milk an injury for all it's worth and get a paid vacation. MT is not one of those players. He's the type that needs to be protected from himself.

Legends are made in times like these. If he says he can go, you dont get in the way. Some guys you’d inactivate them. He is a different breed of competitor. You can’t take the fight out of the dog. What if Phil Jackson held Jordan out of the flu game because he was worried about dehydration and him passing out? Granted this is different points of the season, but that fire just isn’t something you put out. Sometimes there’s guys like this where you just can’t reign in the competitor in them.

If he can’t go, he is injured and not hurt, and he just can’t go. I just don’t think this is a “protect him from himself” type player. Let him decide.

High ankle sprain generally = 6 weeks. Reevaluate after 3.
