It’s really early, but here is my take on the New Orleans Saints 2018 draft choices and how they have looked in the first couple days at training camp.
Marcus Davenport, DE, first-round pick
Davenport is super athletic, quick off the snap and has excellent closing speed to the ball, but he is getting a lesson on how to play defensive end in the NFL.
Davenport has never gone up against offensive tackles with the power, physicality and quickness off the snap like Terron Armstead and Ryan Ramczyk.
Early on he has struggled to get off of their blocks and cause pressure off the edge, but the coaches have praised his work ethic and his mental toughness.
He may get beat in practice but learns from it.
While Davenport is immensely gifted he is also a work in progress as a technician. ...
