As NFL training camps get started, this is the time of the year when you get a look at the players on the respective teams who can elevate their games to help their team win.

Here is my look at the New Orleans Saints players that either have to stay healthy or take that next step in their development.

Deonte Harris, kick returner/receiver

Harris quickly developed into one of the elite return specialists in the NFL as a rookie last season.

But Saints coach Sean Payton has not hidden the fact that he wants Harris to touch the ball more as a wide receiver and as a rusher.

Harris made the All-Pro team due to his skills in the return game, but he only caught six passes for 24 yards and rushed the ball four times for 31 yards on offense.

Payton wants much more than that for the speedy 5-foot-6, 173-pounder.

In the week after beating the Seattle Seahawks last season, Payton mentioned comparisons to Harris and current Seahawks return man/wide receiver Tyler Lockett during an interview on the Saints Coaches Show on WWL Radio 870-AM.

If Harris is anything close to Lockett as a wide receiver, the Saints have found another treasure in the elusive and talented all-purpose performer from Assumption College.
