The New Orleans Saints have walked a certain path in dealing with free agency.

The Saints team of executive vice president/general manager Mickey Loomis and head coach Sean Payton try to resign many of the core players they have selected in the draft over the years.

They also try to address as many needs as possible through veteran free agency, which will allow them to focus on other needs when the draft comes around.

This year was no exception. The Saints came to terms with a talented young defensive tackle in David Onyemata and surprised many with the long term deal for offensive guard Andrus Peat.

Those are two big men that Payton wanted back on his football team not just short term, but for years to come.

Onyemata is on the verge of being a really good defensive tackle in the NFL after not knowing a lot about football and playing his college ball in Canada. But you can’t teach size, speed, and power and now Onyemata is putting those pieces together as a football player.

We are doing pretty good in FA so far. A few more signings and then we can see what we do in the draft.

CB makes a lot of sense at 24. I would be thrilled with either Fulton or Diggs.

I would think with the signing of Sanders, defense is almost a certainty with the first round pick. LB seems like a glaring need, but CB could be an option. Hell, safety is not out of the question if Grant Delpit is still around.
