You have to give New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton full credit for what he has done in recent years to give his team the best chance to be a Super Bowl type football team.
You win with talent. You win with the right players that fit on your roster and you have to build that depth up across the board before training camp starts up.
During this time of uncertainty about training camp and preseason work due to the coronavirus, the veteran player who has been through the football grind has the advantage over a rookie.
The Saints have shown they will keep the rookie undrafted free agent if he is the best player, but this year, we are all dealing in some bit of the unknown, and that includes the football world.
Payton is always open, at the right price, after the draft to bring in players that can add depth to the roster and a certain football strong point to the table. He also knows that tough decisions will have to be made in the next 24 months financially on halfback Alvin Kamara, defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins, linebacker Demario Davis, the best right offensive tackle in the NFL in Ryan Ramczyk and one of the best young cover cornerbacks in the NFL in Marshon Lattimore.
