You think MT could've played an entire drive with this going on inside his shoe?

Because he played an entire drive where he didn't get targeted before he left the game

Also how does someone throw someone into doing this to their foot? Did he have a pass called a toe twister or something?
Is that Will Levis' toe? He played through that most of the season.

Saints and Thomas have the parameters of a reworked deal in place. Don’t know the specifics but it’s essentially a 1 year deal worth around 10-12 million with some void years. Basically a prove it deal that allows Thomas to reset his value if things work out injury wise. Allows the Saints to push the cap hit and give it one more go to see if they can get the Thomas of old. Gives Thomas a chance to work with a veteran QB that can hopefully utilize him the way Brees did, or at least to some affect. Not a Thomas fan but makes sense. Thomas doesn’t have to learn a new offense and the Saints get some time to push his dead cap charge.

IDK I just looked up dislocated great toe...that's what popped up. Who's off target balls was he trying to catch to mess it up like that? Kidding aside, QB is different from WR though...QBs especially pocket passers arent putting that much torque in their feet cutting etc.

True, but stepping into a throw with a toe like that and a metal plate to keep the cleat from flexing must have made it hard to be accurate and probably cut down on some mobility too.

Aw, man. You better not falsely have my hopes up. That sounds like a very plausible possibility.

U lost me at, "not a Thomas fan". Due to personality? I'm sure that u will just say "injuries" instead of saying it with your chest. He is a top 4-8 WR in the league. When healthy.

Landry is a shell of himself and injury prone now. If he's retained you have to plan on some time missed to injury.

If Landry is a shell of himself and you have to plan for him to miss time due to injury...

How is that any different than MT?

I hope CGM is healthy and we work it out with him. Add to that we have Olave and Rasheed. I think that is a pretty potent trio. I still think we need to add another veteran WR at say the league minimum.

He hasn't hardly played in 3 years...

His FA deal will not be what you think...
Ding ding ding. Thomas isn't an idiot. He knows his best chance to rehab his value is with Carr and the Saints.

After reading more about it, it appears we can adjust a player’s contract within 12 months of a renegotiation, but that second renegotiation can’t increase a players earnings. With Thomas due $55m over the next two years, I seriously doubt an overall increase is in order while a 2023 increase/2024 decrease might be. Since he has played so sparingly, we could add some easy-to-achieve incentives to his deal that wouldn’t hit the cap until 2024 if earned. From Over the Cap:

One final thought is that the signing of Carr could open the door to retain WR Michael Thomas. His current contract will be terminated the first day of the league year if it remains in it’s current state, but the two sides could come to an agreement on a restructured contract. Given the injury history I am not sure that this would be a good move for the Saints but if the money figures are low enough I could see them doing a deal with him. It would be easy to have minimal cap charges by heavily incentivizing the contract. Anything with a trigger of more than 3 games, 16 receptions, or 171 receiving yards would not count on the cap in 2023 even if earned.
