Mini DV to DVD? (1 Viewer)

I bought a Sony Handycam model DCR-HC26. I take the video off the tapes with Windows XP movie maker but I can't make that record to a DVD. Any suggestions.

Also I bought a Seagate 300 GB external hard drive. When I try to transfer one of the videos I recorded from my C: it pops up and tells me that I do not have room to put the video. The video is only 10GB and the hard drive has 275 GB's of free space. Does anyone know why it would do this.

you will need a mpeg2 encoder like tmpgenc and also a dvd authoring software which tmpgenc also makes.
