Minnesota Is Freaking Out Because 'Crayfish' Are Showing Up In Lakes, And They Think It's A Problem

They’re reporting finding “red swamp crayfish” in their lakes, and they’re not happy about it y’all.
From Mprnews.org “State conservation officials say the invasive species has been discovered in a Clay County lake and might not be leaving anytime soon.”

There are a few other things going on here regarding crawfish in Minnesota that might blow your mind.
The first one is, in Minnesota, people buy and sell crawfish as pets. You also must have a permit to own a crawfish as a pet.

someone should just tell them how delicious they are, now that they have been blessed with their presence

I read that Louisiana is responsible for 90% of the world's crawfish population. But we consume 95% of the world's crawfish. So we still can't self satisfy our taste for crawfish.

We brought Lobster from Acadia but the journey was so arduous that we were left with crawfish.

Why would you put them in a bag and freeze them and then throw them away? If you can only find two, you can at least make them into a sammich

We are freaking out about giant tiger prawns in the Gulf of Mexico and the rest of the world would love to have em. Just throw them on the grill and be happy.

I thought Minnesota had had crawfish for a while.

I spent a good bit of time in Montana and they had a ton of crawfish in their lakes. They would use them for bait as I was scooping them up to have a good ole southern boil. The people I know don't use them for bait anymore.

We caught a few of them at Big Bear lake in California. They'd grab onto the hook when fishing - big ones too, 2-3 times bigger than what you'd normally see in Louisiana. Step-father fixed them up for the California family. Several years back.

They better shut this down quick otherwise they might have to deal with an affordable, renewable, sustainable food source. :idunno:

I've gotten a few here when fishing. Sadly never enough to do anything big with. Usually just toss on the grill, melt. Little butter and slap ya mama and drench when done

But they are ok with the Muslim Invasion ? I would think crawfish is the least of their problems right now.
