Was thinking about taking the wife to the beach but didn't want to drive to FL or AL. Was trying to look up any beach hotels in Gulfport or somewhere nearby, but not really having any luck. The ones I found didn't really promote the beach, was hoping some South Mississippi buddys could help me out if they knew of any good beach spots in MS.

The best thing in Gulfport is the Island View Casino. Expand to Biloxi for a lot more choices.

Isle of Capri has pretty cheap rooms tight now from what I hear, due to construction.

Well I can tell you who has some great pools hard rock casino the palace casino great pool area on back bay decent room rates and right across the Biloxi ocean springs bridge is ocean springs beach and its very family oriented and drinking is allowed just no bottles that's the place prefer is palace but right across the hwy from beau rivage their is a nice hotel and its not to bad on price either

I stayed at the Isle about a year ago. Won't do that again. The bed was awful and the room itself wasn't much better.
I wouldn't bother with beaches in Biloxi/Gulfport. Seems like nobody bothers to clean them. Mississippi Beach has lots of glass in the sand (at least it did in April) so you don't dare take your shoes off.
Go to Gulf Shores.

South beach hotel..I stayed there about 3 weeks ago. It is one of the only few hotels that remain on the beach side of the street. Rooms were very nice also

They don't promote the beach because it isn't worth promoting. Due to the proximity to the river and the barrier islands off the beach, the sand is softer and siltier (grey) than the beaches to the west and there aren't really any waves to speak of.

At least that's how I remember it. The beach part was always disappointing.

Ok thanks for the info everyone.... Southbeach hotel sounds pretty good

Hell, I live here, I don't stay at any of them.

Do not stay at the Isle of Capri, we call it the Pile of Debris for a reason. Personally, as for hotels, Island View in Gulfport is my choice. Good food, good entertainment, nice pool area, and right across from the beach. I can honestly say that I haven't been to the beach outside of Bay Saint Louis/Waveland in about 17 years so I have no clue where the best spots to go are.

If you're just looking to spend the weekend and hit the beach during the day consider coming over to Bay Saint Louis and staying at Hollywood Casino. It's cheaper than Gulfport/Biloxi, has decent food, and is only a few miles from the beach.

Regardless of where you stay you can drive to the Ship Island Excursion port and spend a day out there. Welcome to Ship Island Excursions | Ship Island Excursions

I'll be glad to answer any questions you may have about the BSL area. Just shoot me a PM.

The beach isn't really anything special. There are a lot of public beaches that you can pull right up and park. The view isn't anything special either.

Instead of paying a crazy rate for a crappy room on the beach or paying an extremely high rate at one of the nicer hotels or casinos I go to Country Inn and Suites in Ocean Springs.
Biloxi, MS Hotels | Country Inn & Suites | Hotel in Ocean Springs

You can drive to the beach or any Casino in about 5 minutes. Plus the rooms are nice, the beds are surprisingly good and I get the jacuzzi suite for about $100 a night which is pretty cheap in Biloxi. It is sad that I can stay in a 4 star hotel at any major city in the country for the same price as the best western in Biloxi/Gulfport.

If you decide to stay for a few days then the best bet is renting a condo. You can get some really nice Condo's on the beach for cheaper than most Casinos but most require a 3 night stay this time of the year.

Ok after more contemplating I had decided to drive the couple extra hours and go on to Destin. Then today a friend of mine mentioned the Beau Rivage in Biloxi. He said it wasnt really on a beach but it had an outstanding pool/bar and excellant service. So now I'm thinking stay there or drive the 2 hours on to Destin. The hotel on the beach at Destin is about $150 cheaper, but the drive is 2 more hours(4 round trip).

If the drive is that big of a deal then go to Orange Beach or Pensacola Beach. It is in between the two and the beaches are almost as nice as Destin.

The Beau Rivage is more comparable to Vegas than a beach (even though it is technically located near a beach). If you want a nice pool and bar area then you could find that anywhere.

+1 for South Beach...rooms are spacious and nice...big bar overlooking the beach.
It's one of the only hotels on the beach side where you can walk out of the hotel and be on the beach without crossing the highway on foot.

Hard Rock Hotel/Casino rooms are legit and their pool area is cool. The Beau is good as well.
