Dont post much but Im bored on a sunday afternoon without football so here we go . . .

First round: Saints trade down in he first and pick up a second rd pick. I know its not in SP/Loomis character but we're in a bad draft position with a shortage of picks. If we had all seven then it wouldnt be so bad.

First round: Jamie Collins OLB Southern Miss- 6'4 255lbs 4.64 40yd, 41in vert
He's basically a Dion Jordan with better stats and production, and Mayock has him ranked as his #2 OLB.I've watched some games on him and he's a problem when he plays with fire. The only knock on him I've read is that he doesnt always play with intensity and up to his freakish measurables. I doubt that would be an issue here.

Second round: John Jenkins NT Georgia- 6'4 346 30 reps 225lbs
Simply put he's a coke machine that plays football, he's just a massive individual. Too big and too strong to single block yet still flashes some agility to fight off doubles. Read an article that said the was the South's most disruptive lineman at the Senior bowl. We can place him in the rotation with Bunkley. Can you imagine our front line with Cam, Jenkins, and Hicks. Our goaline packages would d@mn near be unfair.

Third round: Rashaan Melvin CB Northern Illinois- 6'2 193
I first heard about his kid when someone posted about him the draft thread, I dont remember who did but shouts out to you sir. I think this kid could be the definition of a sleeper. Think of an Xavier Rhodes that plays at a small school. Matter of fact he played against Rhodes and FSU in the Orange bowl this past year, caused a fumble on a FORM TACKLE of the fullback. Form tackling, unheard of I know. He ran the 40 in 4.46 and has a 38in vert. Not only is he a big corner that can run and tackle, he's also intelligent and has ball skills. He shows smarts playing in zone but does his best work in bump and run. He's got the long arms and physicality to jam recievers, while at the same time possessing the fluidity and speed to turn and run. Did I mention he knows how to get his head turned around and catch the d@mn ball too?! Sorry, but Im still scarred from watching what Dez Bryant did to Prob. :covri:

Fourth round: Chris Faulk LT LSU- 6'4 335
Played LT for our beloved Tigers so most of yall should be familiar. He's coming off of an injury but is supposedly healing faster than expected. What I've read on him is that he's surprisingly agile for his weight and has light feet and a smooth easy foot slide. Hell he did play LT in the SEC didnt he? The only knock I could find on him was he doesnt have ideal weight for an LT, but again that didnt seem to be a problem for him. Even if we re-sign Bushrod I'd rather let this kid compete and move Bushrod to the right side. Im tired of seeing him get bulled and bullied back into Brees' lap. I dont care what anybody says, he's not a Pro Bowl LT. Pro bowl LT's dont constantly need chips.

Fifth round: Ben Cotton TE Nebraska 6'6 260
We need depth at TE behind Jimmy (Big Red) who can catch but most block well in the run game. He's got soft hands and enough speed to move the chains or be an unsuspecting red zone target. He fits the bill.

Sixth round: Jaron Brown WR Clemson 6'3 204
He was stuck behind the two stud Wr's at Clemson but did his thang when his number was called. Plus he blew up his pro day outshining Nuke Hopkins in pretty much every drill. He's got good hands and makes tough catches in traffic, and oh btw he also runs 4.3. We need receivers who can make things happen after the catch, and I have to admit I wouldnt mind having a receiver like a Dez or Crabtree in our WR core. The only person we gave like that is Sproles and you're right he isnt even a WR. It will make this offense all that more dangerous, Just outright scary like we were in '09.

Quick edit: I'm sure alot of you noticed there isnt a safety. I'm hoping we sign Kenny Phillips from NYG, he's a playmaker when he ist hurt (he says he's fully healed now). He got great size(6'2, 210) and handsshould come cheap. Plus he had a great secondary coach from the U that got him ready for the league. We just hired him to be our secondary coach too btw.

Thats my mock, let me know what yall think.

If they trade down I'd rather a guy like Margus Hunt: low floor but high ceiling. Or a guy that fell pretty far like Star. Or Tavon Austin if he's there.

Star would be good, but we need to get at least one of these freakish rush linebackers.

I love everything but the jenkins pick, in a pass happy NFL nose tackles are seeing less and less on the field, im thinking the 2nd round pick will be a DE or CB, while cam jordan and bunkley are beasts and are proven, as much talent as hicks has he is unproven, also if any one of them get hurt we are in trouble, I think it would be much better if we could trade down and maybe get sheldon richardson in the first and jamie collins in the 2nd

I would piss myself if that happened and be sitting outside the dome in June waiting for the season, Im just worried that we wont get one of the better pass rushers that we need so badly. I'd hate to see us pass on Collins then watch him blow up in ATL or San Fran.

Sneaky, sneaky! Ya, I like Jamie Collins too. I thought he was more of a 2nd-3rd round talent, but I can easily see him going in the 1st. I'd even say he may be worthy of the 15th overall, though I agree we could/should trade down if he's our guy. He's really explosive, and everything he does "wrong", can be fixed with pro coaching.

Instead of Jenkins in the 2nd, I'd rather us take the best S on the board, Cyprien, Elam, Reid, Philip Thomas, etc. I could live with everything else. Nice mock, and not as far fetched as some of the other ones that have been posted.

With this draft being so deep on defense as much as i like collins i couldnt spend a first round pick on him, i'd also have trouble taking him before okafor, anyways if we could find a way to trade down and get 2 second rounders either okafor or collins would be there and we could take trufant or poyer as well

Yup, I agree Okafor would be a better option at that point. But Collins is good too. The talent, ON PAPER, this year favors the needs of our team. Pass rushers, D-line, DBs, its stocked with guys we need. There should still be a ton of quality guys in the 4th-5th rounds.

Margus Hunt just might be that freakish Rush Linebacker. Ï've been reading a lot of Ted Hendrix Comparisons lately.

I wouldn't rule out a guy like Datone Jones or Tavon Austin if the top tackles, corners and linebackers are off of the board.

I agree, and there is plenty of defensive talent. I want to get the playmakers though, even if its just looks like it on paper. We already have quality players, we dont have any Josh Bullocks or Jason davids anymore. We need playmakers.

after watching a couple clips of collins i think he'll be there in the 3rd. he doesnt run hard when the ball goes to the opposite side of the field and he doesnt run hard when the ball gets down field and he's behind the play. no motor once he's blocked. he doesnt fight to shed blocks..... in other words no thanks in the 1st.

Agree. We're not gonna take Collins in the first round.
