Draft:
1. Kenneth Murray LB OU - my man who will start at MIKE for a long time. Move over Devin White & Deion Jones, as we have the new best MIKE in the NFC South now that Luke Kuechly is gone
3. Laviska Shenault Jr WR Colorado - he falls due to injury concerns and not so great interviews. We get lucky like we did with Michael Thomas and he falls into our laps. We decide the value is too good to pass up. We get the NFC South’s version of Deebo Samuel in a tough, thick built receiver that looks like a running back.
4. Michael Ojemudia CB Iowa - he falls into our laps to be a backup outside corner with a chance to be the starter for the future. Great size and speed as he is almost 6’1” 200 lbs and ran a 4.45
5. Josiah Deguara FB/TE Cincinnati - he becomes our starting FB and 3rd TE. Nice 6’2” 240+ beast coming out the backfield in the pass game like Kyle Juszczyk.
6. Jared Hilbers OT Washington - best offensive tackle available so we scoop him up. I just went with an OT I think might be available. I usually look for a SAM LB, TE, or a RB, but we just resigned Washington and I got us drafting Deguara in the 5th. I rather not have two rookie LBs, so I would rather bring in Ogletree to start at SAM.

Sign QB Jameis Winston and LB Alec Ogletree to cheap one year prove it deals. I know I will get hate for Jameis, but I would love to bring him in to see if he’s got what it takes to be Drew Brees successor next year if the coaching staff and team likes him. It’s like a trial run with the locker room and to see if he can get down coach’s playbook. I want Taysom to have to win the job and I would rather Taysom stay at the joker spot anyway. We could use another vet LB since Anzalone and Kiko can’t stay healthy to save their lives. Ogletree is probably the best LB available and at like 6’3” 250 he should be able to play SAM easily. We just need him to be out there on running downs in the base defense.

I made a little adjustment........

I’m going to ask the question I’ve always been curious about.

When someone makes a post like this, have they done this “mock draft” via a mock draft website?

Or are they basically just making stuff up based on “this is who I think might be available in the 3rd round, I really want the Saints to get Laviska Shenault, so I’m just going to project him falling into the 3rd round”?

More time than not, there’s no mention of mock draft website, so I’m always curious.

First, let me say I am no expert on the draft. Beyond the top 80-100 prospects, I have no real idea of how things might fall. But in thirteen drafts in the Payton era, we have never drafted a fullback. We already have two on the roster, so I don't think we go after Deguara in the 5th round. I appreciate the info on the picks. Can Jared Hilbers move inside to guard?

EDIT: Taysom Hill is going to be in an awful lot of team meetings. :D

Honestly man I was with you until the Jameis Winston thing.

I would be ecstatic with the actual draft if it turned out like that though.

Deguara hasn’t played full back, so he’s really drafting a tight end. He’s kind of small to play tight end, but Dallas Clark was too. Most think he will play fullback/TE/H-back. Coach is known to play hybrid like Taysom who also plays some QB/WR/TE/H-back. Not many fullbacks are drafted. And no one would of ever drafted a hybrid player like Taysom, but now some might cause it’s a copy cat league. And cause of the success last year of fullback Kyle Juszczyk with the 9ers a team that uses fullbacks, ala Saints, might look to copy that. It wouldn’t of happened previously cause we haven’t seen a fullback used like Juszczyk. We also have what maybe 10 WRs on the roster, but we probably will draft one of them.

And I have no idea if Hilbers could play guard and I wouldn’t want him to cause we already have 3 guys that can backup at guard. Who you gonna cut out of Easton, Clapp, and Tom for a rookie? Does no one think Clapp could possibly be a future starter or am I the only one?

I look at other mocks and do simulators. Some I post are simulators I’ve done, some I base on what I would of picked in another mock on-line that the mock drafter didn’t pick. And some I do combos of mocks I’ve seen on-line. Some I do just based on rankings of players and where they are projected to go. Most of them are based on rankings and projections. I’ve seen mocks were Shenault was available, but not many. I’ve seen some were Eason was available and right now that’s the two guys I want the most.

That’s why I do so many ?

I wanted Edit OP original post by putting taysom at the end of every position.?

I’ve changed my mind. I don’t think they pick up another CB, unless one falls in there lap. The have the same depth as last year, plus the CB from the XFL.

I do think there’re going to go G and/or OT.

Just not a fan of Kenneth Murray. Not a fan of linebackers with poor instincts, especially in the first round. That's a kiss of death, as are tight hips on a cornerback.
