Are we human? Or are we dancers?

actually this is a question i used to address often at the beginning of semesters
my approach was always Humans 1st Dancers 2nd- implying that they were pulling from there experiences in the "pedestrian" world to inform their choices in the studio (both creative and technical choices)
AS opposed to the approach that ballet often takes, where they are crafting something other than (more than) human

and let me go ahead and save y'all the search/embed process

You obviously don't teach at the Fame school.

Interestingly my sister was a Broadway dancer, so i got to see what "Fame" school was like
