Monday Night commentary... (1 Viewer)

My Vote for Monday Night Football Commentators would be Adam Schein, Solomon Wilcots, and Pat Kirwan my three favorite NFL Experts

I really enjoy Tony. He has grown on me, he puts Joe in his place. You can tell that he tries, just watch his notes, he seems to truly prepare for each week.

Joe is Joe and thats all there is to him, never liked him and never will. I would much rather Jaws in there because he is great at breaking things down so everyone understands, and he doesn't do it in a self glorifying way.

Tirico, he is not too bad.

Celebrities should be outlawed. The only one that didn't bother me was Ronde Barber. Probably because he is a player. I mean, they had a guy from Desperate Housewives on for goodness sake. I don't care if your character is in a coma, I want to watch football.

Rant over, sorry.

AMEN................

I'm too young to remember, but isn't having celeberties in the booth a throw back to the Howard Cosell days? I remember seeing some old clips where Cosell would be interviewing people like John Lennon in the booth. I don't like having to listen to celeberties during football games, but I just figured they were trying to do something that was part of the original MNF broadcasts.

Rarely, Cosell was the best of the best, hated him when I was younger, but I can still hear him in my head, A young guy that is the best today is Adam Schein on Sirius Radio or the NFL Network, If you haven't heard him listen, he is the best

Al Michaels was supposed to be the guy for Monday this year. Just him and Tirico then Disney traded Michaels to NBC and we got the situation we have now. Mike Patrick? (used to do sunday night) was already slated for ESPN Saturday Night Football so they went with Kornheiser and Thiesmann.

Yeah, the celebrity guests are stupid. What a waste of time. I think I saw the guy from Trimmors in there once. (I can't think of his stupid name now!)

I'd like to break Joe's T.'s other leg.

Also, they're getting stuck with some crappy games. Couple weeks ago, it was Raiders and Seahawks. Crappy.

Cosell was a hge fan of John Lennon. What i remember reading he had to fight tooth and nails to get the permission to even had John in the booth. I saw clip when Cosell announce the tragic news. Apparently he really was a huge fan. Anyway, I don;t think it was a common occurance. As a kid I can rarely rmember seeing celebs on MNF. The big draw for me was the halftime highlights, especially if we won,... then they actually had to show them

On another note: I prefer the days when the only celeb you saw was the occasional cameo shot of Kathie Lee Gifford in the stands.

MNF commentary has been terrible for years as far back as I can remember with Dierdorf and Griffin in the booth. Usually I just do something else and watch with the sound muted. If I want to hear a play-by-play I'll turn on the radio coverage which is much better.

CLEARLY the problem is that the league caters to the not so die-hard fan for Monday night football. It's sad because we are losing the best part of the game. Back in the days of Cosell, Madden and company you got excited about someone who was genuinely informed and knew their "stuff". Now everything seems to be about flash, flair, commercialism and is a watered down version of what it used to be in order to cater to the masses. In the end, its all about the dollas for them. Quite sad for the real fans.

That's true of all leagues. They're going the way of WWF/WWE "Sports Entertainment." It's bad enough now I have to get assaulted with horrible pop music blaring from the speakers whenever I go to a game but I can't imagine what it's going to be like in another twenty years or so.

I love the job Tony K is doing! I think his interaction with the others makes it much easier to take Joe. Tirico is ok but not as good as Al was.

I think Tirico and Tony are both excellent

Joe Theismann is the biggest know-nothing vacuum-head moron on TV

call me crazy but I would like to see Charles Barkley do it. He is really entertaining on camera and he know a thing or 2 about football

Balance would be brought back to the Force if next year Tiki was hired to replace crackhead and TO's significant other, Michael Irvin.
