First, he recounted a story he said he's been kicking himself for not relaying during the Saturday night broadcast. He said Sunday evening, Sean Payton was sitting in his Saints office and looked out the window and saw someone by himself on the practice field wearing a ball cap.
Payton walked outside and saw it was Drew Brees taking some imaginative drops. Payton asked, "What are you doing?" Brees responded," Well, we know who we're playing now and I just wanted to come in and practice my drops and reads."
Now how glad are you that we have him as our QB?

Also, Moose predicted it will be Colts and Saints in the Super Bowl. What a matchup that would?

Considering all I've read about Brees, it's not surprising. He is definately spoiling us! I feel bad for whatever QB follows him...........he has big shoes to fill!

And on that note, we need to get a young qb in here this off season. I know Drew is barely 28 with a lot of years left however it would be great to have a young guy pick up his excellent work ethic. The longer a qb can learn behind Drew brees the better QB he will be when he is finally called on.

Damn guys

can we please finish one full year with the statistically greatest qb we've ever had before we start trying to bring up a newbie?:dunno:

I heard that same story, and it hit home. To add to it, Drew told Sean he was "playing the game in his mind", to which Payton quipped "Yeah, well who's winning?". Fantastic story.

Many great athletes, speakers, actors, etc. have employed the power of visualization in helping improve their performance. I've read accounts of POWs in 'Nam playing an imaginary round of golf every day while imprisoned, then getting out of prison after several years and shooting a solid round of golf.

So it's not surprising to hear that Drew does this as well.

Great story. But one question:

How could Moose have told it Saturday night, when it happened on Sunday? Psychic?

If so, then I *really* like his SB prediction.

Hey Chi-town, there's a Saints fan here on the forum that is looking for somewhere up there to watch the game. Can you help him out?

CUT TO: CHICAGO
Lovie Smith looks out his window and sees someone dancing like a fool outside his office. Smith realizes it's his starting QB Rex Grossman
SMITH
Whatcha doin' dancin' in the cold Rex?
GROSSMAN
Hey coach, yeah, I was just remembering how good of a dancer I was on New Year's Eve, there was a big party, it was so much fun. I knew it would be fun, that's why I didn't prepare for the Packers. I have another party Sunday night I'm looking forward to so I wanted to practice my moves.
SMITH
Rex, you know we have a game coming up Sunday right?
GROSSMAN
Awww, don't worry coach, I don't need to practice, Tank Johnson already told me that he's going to threaten the Saints players with his arsenal of guns.
SMITH
Now, Rexy, you know he was just kidding about that, Tank wouldn't do that
GROSSMAN
Well the other guys better win the game for us because Ricky Manning told me that we are going to drive around in his Bentley after the game and beat up some people for fun and I'm really looking forward to that.
SMITH
Son, just go get some rest and get ready for practice this week
GROSSMAN
Practice? We're talkin' about PRACTICE, not a game, we're talking about practice coach. Take it easy, we ain't talking about a game, we're talking about practice. I've got to work on my grove for the party coach, I can't worry about practice. Practice? Come on coach, practice?

Lovie Smith walks away, smiling to himself and says
SMITH
I can't believe that I got this group of thugs, criminals, and losers to the NFC Championship game. At least when we get crushed on Sunday nobody outside of Chicago will hate me because there isn't a person outside of the stadium who won't be pulling for the Saints.

CHICAGO -- So Bears cornerback Ricky Manning Jr. was standing in front of his locker after Chicago's 27-24 overtime win in the NFC Divisional playoff, and he was talking about how difficult the past 12 months have been for him. I'm a sucker for a heartwarming overcoming-adversity story, so I clicked on the digital recorder.

"I would say the last year has been a drastic change for me as far as signing with the Bears, then with the off-the-field issues [he pleaded no contest to a felony assault charge], getting married, having a kid, moving to Chicago, buying a Bentley ... it's crazy," he said.

It is, isn't it? I was just telling the ball and chain that very thing a few days ago when we were at the Ferrari dealership picking out ostrich leather seats for our new 599 GTB Fiorano.

Oh my gawd. You see, this is the problem with a lot of the Bears. Manning signs a five-year, $21 million free-agent deal and buys one of the most expensive cars on the planet -- and thinks he's had it rough. Bears quarterback Rex Grossman watches his team eke out an overtime win against a Seattle Seahawks team with a loan officer in its secondary and he says, "Our whole team just played great."
