Big Bird is terrifying. Oscar is a walking (or sometimes flying) hazard. And Cookie Monster is a soulless junkie.

So I think I meant Grover, not Oscar.

Oscar is unreservedly grouchy and eats trash.

Being an even bigger fan of The Muppet Show (the original) than Sesame Street (which I also loved), I'm very in touch with their list.

4. Kermit (yes, I know he's basically the "face" of the Muppets and the alter ego of Jim Henson himself, but I still dig the others more)

I have no problem with that top 3, even if Kermit doesn't interest me that much.

This is probably sacrilege, but even as a kid I found Big Bird's toddler-like wonder to be boring and off-putting. Give me Gonzo blowing sheet up and training chickens or Animal's coke-fueled madness any day of the week.
