I like the 4-3 scheme so my team will be made to equal a 4-3 scheme.

LDE W Martin
NT J Wilks
RDT L Glover (Previously S Ellis good point made by duckjr78's)
RDE W Smith

LOLB R Jackson
LILB S Mills
ROLB P Swilling

LCB J Greer
RCB T Porter
SS S Knight (Previously R Harper was totally by accident)
FS D Sharper (Previously G Atkins totally by accident because I got Sharper and Harper mixed up)

I'm sorry but Will Smith is not the player Joe Johnson was. When Joe got hurt one year, our defense was drastically worse without him.

G Atkins vs D Sharper could be an argument where both sides have some validity.

S Ellis vs L Glover is not. Glover averaged over 7 sacks a season from the DT spot his entire career. He averaged over 10 a season during his tenure as a Saint. I really like Sedrick Ellis, but it's no contest.

probably somebody else over Sed at DT as well.. he has a chance to be the best at the end of his career but to date he just hasnt done enough to be regarded as the best of all-time

I'd rather have Sammy Knight in over Harper. He may not have been the fastest guy on the field but he could hit just as hard as Harper and made WAY more plays.

It's so hard to compare players over several decades...someone should do a roster for best players in the following eras: 60's-70's; 80's-90's; 2000-present.

Dave Whitsell was an all pro cb who had 10 ints... I believe he's the only all pro cb we've ever had...

Premature to put Porter or Greer at either CB position.

They both played, what, 8 games each this past season in which they shined?

Can't put them there just because we won a Super Bowl.

Something has to be said for longevity. Same thing for Sharper. Myers has to be the pick over him.

Getting caught up a little to o much in the Super Bowl winning team and that's totally understandable.

I'd probably have Whitsell and Waymer right now.

In 5 years, easily Porter and Greer could be the picks. Not now. Not after 8 games.

For us old-timers, I put together a 60's-70's Defensive team (much harder than you can imagine going through the rosters...lol). However, I'm stumped on a second safety and 3rd linebacker. Any help would be appreciated:
DT Dave Rowe & Derland Moore
DE Doug Atkins & Elois Grooms
LB Jim Federspiel, Jim Merlo & ______________
S Tommy Myers & _________________
CB Dave Whitsell & Ernie Jackson
