That makes two of us.Don't why I posted this...
Yeah, I believe the stat was that from whatever year he stated, when an opponent reaches the 1 yard line against the Saints they are virtually guaranteed to get points -- either by a FG or a TD. Well, doesn't that seem appropriate for any team to at least get FG from the 1 yard line, hence score virtually every time they get to the 1 yard line? I think it was dumb stat simply because teams should at least score a FG at that distance. I mean how often do you see what happened to Hartley happen in the NFL? Not often.I think he said "Since 1992" or some weird year. I don't know what that had to do with recent history but it was a weird stat. Not really a reason to be mad or actually post this, like you said.
He said that the Saints hadn't stopped a team from scoring with a first and goal from the 1 since 1998. I found it interesting but I guess some of you took it personal.
All these stats they say are pointless but I still like hearing them. I mean out of 12 years playing football they haven't been able to force a turnover from the 1? Or make a goal line stand? I just thought it was neat to hear.Really dumb stat to mention if you ask me. I mean seriously, the only way a team won't score from the one (either a TD or FG) is a turnover or 4 down terroritory and they get stopped. Pointless stat.
Dang people, lighten up. It was a useless stat that he said. He didn't say the Saints are horrible and they don't deserve to win another game. Geeeeez man, some people can get so worked up about the smallest things. What do some of you do when it is really something important in life that you don't like.I had my family all in from out of town and we had a rare opportunity to watch the game together, minus the hard liquor.
I had the same reaction to this stat at the time due to the fact that it makes less sense to throw something like that out about the Saints without giving something to compare against, like, let's say,...the rest of the league.
You shouldn't throw out stats unless you are going to use them to make a GREAT point in a most important game.
I am sure most thought at that time though, 14 -10 was not going to look good on the scoreboard.
