Myles Garrett racking up more hype (1 Viewer)

Cleveland will need a QB, they'll trade out of the top spot if Garrett is the highest rated player on the board.

The Saints, picking at #32 will have to give up a boatload to move up to #1 for Garrett.
Loomis will make it happen.

A man can dream :hihi:

Garnett still might not be the #1 player taken though. If it's Cleveland, they could take a QB. Probably Chad Kelly (just cuz they're kinda incompetent not because Kelly is particularly good).

Personally I'd like Barnett for our scheme. He seems to play with a little bit more nasty/power to his game.
I do too. Plus, he has a less talented cast of pass rushers around him than Garrett does, so he is a bit more used to going it alone so to speak.

Chad Kelly not good? bwahahahaha that's some straight hate dude.

Speaking of Alabama. Tim Williams is in our current draft range as well.

He's had some trouble with the law, though. Have to vet him super hard.

Tim Williams - yeah. In fact I suspect he'll be our pick.

Barnett I haven't focused any coverage on, so I can't comment. Sure I've read he's a beast prototypical 3/4 DE type (with shorter overall length than Garrett). So the jury for me is out. But I hear you guys. You guys know your football. I respect your opinions.

For right now though, I'm just gonna stay in man-love with the idea of Garrett somehow ridiculously falling to the Saints in 2017.

Von Miller calling him a "slam dunk legend" is powerful stuff.

I wish Arden Key was in this draft as well. He would fit great opposite Cam and the perfect compliment to his game. We need a pure speed rusher like this who can just flat out get after the QB. Garrett is obviously the best pass rusher in CFB but Key with another year to develop can get close to his level. If we can't get Garrett in this draft I want Jabril Peppers. Kid is an absolute stud and would be the play maker we need on defense. Draft Peppers and sign a stud pass rusher in FA would completely change our defense.

Me too. He sure looked good against Ole Miss - that backup tackle had no chance. Way to quick.

Surprised at how sluggish Garrett looked though. Guy was exhausted.

Anyone paid attention to K Beckwith last night? The kid sure does know how to play sideline to sideline. His game has really improved.

why should we care, the draft is in MARCH, have you given up already? some may call you a bandwagon fan

Look at what happened wiht La'el a day or two before the draft. Or look at all the guys that tear an ACL on the final play.

Anything can happen. If luck were to finally smile our way, you don't blink - you get this guy.

He would look good on our injury report. Just saying.......

Tim Williams would be a very nice draft pick for this team, IMHO. He checks so many boxes that the Saints need.

Pass Rusher - This guys is a specialist. He can play the run (you better, on a Bama D), but he is in there for one thing: to get past OT's and get to the QB. He causes holding penalties, sacks, fumbles, quick throws and throw aways. Those are how you win 3rd and 4th downs. And winning 3rd and 4th downs is how you win games in the NFL. Everybody gives up yardage on 1st and 2nd down. Do you win on 3rd & 4th?

Bend, Speed, Inside move & Speed to power - I've seen Williams use all of these over the past 2 years. Does he need refinement? Of course. Does he already have all the tools? Absolutely.

Coverage ability - I think I saw him do it once, lol. I say that in total jest, but this is something that will push him down the boards a bit. And that leads me to........

Rotation player - Williams doesn't log a ton of snaps. This will push him down draft boards because teams want a 3 down player. If the Saint's D line continues to develop and they get their guy in FA, they can afford to grab a specialist that early.

A brush with the law - Again, not to make light of things like this, but this pushes him down boards again. A guy with this type of pass rush ability would be a top 10 pick all day, but he has a few small ticks against him.

IF the Saints have the offseason that I believe they have been putting the pieces in place for over the past 2 years, a pass rushing WDE will be signed in FA (along with a couple of nice OLine pieces). Draft Williams and you have these options on 3rd & 4th down:

WDE Free agent signing (10+ sack guy hopefully), Jordan, Fairley (resigned), Rankins, Williams, Kikaha, Edebali, Onyemata.

Now that is a D-Coordinator's dream. That many guys who have penetrating ability in a 4/3 front. Add Davison in their and there is your Dline for the rest of Brees' career. Nobody gets tired in the 4th quarter. Rotation throughout the game. Imagine a rested Jordan going up against RT's in the 4th because Williams/Onyemata could come in and spell him a drive or two during the game.

Williams is the type of guy who makes a front 6/7 scary. He will beat your RT more than half the time. He will beat your LT less than that, but more than most. Put him over the RT and he virtually demands a chip block or RB help, and that makes coverage that much easier on the LB's to his side, compressing that side of the field.

I'd love to see the Saints grab him at around pick #18 or thereabouts.
