N/S Bart Starr Passes Away At 85 (1 Viewer)

The Super Bowl never would have been what it ended up being without him being so great in the first two. RIP

The older guys on SR, like me, will always remember Bart Starr with respect and admiration. He, along with his Vince Lombardi era teammates, were the epitome of class, success and determination to live up to the Lombardi expectations.
RIP Mr. Starr and thanks for the memories.

I met him a couple of times and he was warm and genuine. He even let me view “the ring” and he just smiled ear to ear at my excitement. Peace be with you.

RIP to my boyhood football hero.
I told my Dad not to take the Cowboys in the Ice Bowl game.
I warned him to not bet against Bart Starr at home that day.
My dad never put money on the Cowboys again after that.

I met him a few times up in Birmingham. He was genuinely nice and very generous with his time and money

Criminally underrated during and after his career.

Played quarterback flawlessly for the crazed perfectionist Vince Lombardi.

5-1 in championship games, including 5 NFL/SB titles in 7 years. (Take that, Tom Brady and Joe Montana! :hihi:)

RIP.
