If their is one team that really has a lot of talent and potential to be a monster its the Washington Redskins. Whether or not Joe Gibbs did his best job the second time around in the HC capacity, he left that team loaded. They have some good players and a good future ahead of them. the only question mark is: Can their new HC Jim Zorn be the new savior of that town and do what Gibbs did for 25 plus years off and on. Gibbs is like the man of DC, he made that team a great spots franchise, a great offensive mind that quite frankly was the co-team of the 1980's. when he got to SB's he won them, except for once in 1983. But the question is their is a new guy in charge and he is a old rival, Zorn played on some great Sea hawks teams in the 70's and 80's back before they got good. The old King dome Hawks to some old timers of the NFL. Zorn was seen as a great offensive mind but will he succeed as the top guy in DC?

Its the biggest question to be answered this season. They have a lot of talent left over from the Gibbs days and he probably put the team in good hands again, but can Zorn finish the job?

Because without Gibbs, the Skins are a lost team as history shows. They only made one playoff appearance without Gibbs in his absence, so Zorn has a huge job ahead of him.

No. Gibbs had enough credibility to moderate Danny boy. Their talent base is not great, very poor depth and had a good string last year when emotion was powering them.

Scorpius, what I meant by those comments was the success the Sea hawks had was not as widespread before the arrival of Mike Holmgrem in 1999. The sea hawks had a few good teams with Zorn and Largent in the 70's and 80's but did not make the playoffs a lot. I apologize for the typo or the confusion. I probably should have said they were a good team but not a great team.

Sorry.

No need to be sorry man, I was just confused about what was meant and pointed out the confusion. I apologize for it. Super Bowl Baby!!!!!!!!!

i think why not ?

sometimes there have to come in a young and fresh guy with new ideas and philisophies to get the right production out of the talent. just look at paytons and mangninis first years. they came in , both with their own philosophies and both teams overarchieved. if zorn is an offensive genius , i can see them doing great things with moss, cooley, sellers.portis.
at best they would run a WC Offense with this kind of guys in offense. if zorn can bolster both lines they will be competitive.

They have very poor cap management. Dan needs to hire a real GM and get rid of his buddy Vinnie Ceratto (sp?). Their cap is so messed up they'll be lucky to sign all their draft picks. I don't care who the coach is, he can't win under those circumstances.

Zorn will be gone at the end of the season. It's no secret that Snyder wants Cower and will pay whatever it takes to get him.

Fixt.

Question, why do you write these little essays without proof reading?

This is the correct answer imo. The key is improving along the lines. That seems to be our main weakness. If our oline stays healthy they are one of the best and even with the injuries to the line last year they still were one of the better ones due to Bugel's great coaching. However we certainly need to address the depth issues along the line in the draft.

No. Gibbs had enough credibility to moderate Danny boy. Their talent base is not great, very poor depth and had a good string last year when emotion was powering them.

I don't know why you say our talent base isn't good. Every team has depth issues, but this is still a team that has made the playoffs two out of the last three years. Our oline was ravaged last year and yet we found some guys (including a undrafted rookie) who could be cornerstones to come. We need a bigger wr, a cb, some dlineman, but our core talent base is certainly good. If Campbell can step up his game this team will be hard to beat.

They have very poor cap management. Dan needs to hire a real GM and get rid of his buddy Vinnie Ceratto (sp?). Their cap is so messed up they'll be lucky to sign all their draft picks. I don't care who the coach is, he can't win under those circumstances.

Not really sure you can say we have poor cap management, we consistently are able to get under the cap with ease and create room for free agents. Certainly we are closer to the limit then we should be (about 10 million under), but the last two years they have been more conservative and smart with their salary cap management. We have made mistakes (lloyd and archuletta are the latest ones) that have created a lot of deadcap for us, however we have corrected those two errors. And I don't know where you get the lucky to sign all of our draft pick parts as that is just ludicrous. At most our rookie pool (even with the 10 or so picks we have thanks to two compensatory picks) will be around 4 million and we are well under that.

it's surely a guessing game at this point. i agree with buickman that their front office needs help but then again, so does most other teams, i.e, saints poor drafts. a good comparible is our own coach payton and what he has been able to accomplish in two years to realize success goes much deeper than just who your head coach is (assistants, team leaders, being lucky with game breaks like turnovers, fewer injuries to your star players, etc.). if i was to simply base coach zorn's future success on his own nfl experience i would have to say his redskin players will play smart and be physical and probably win more than they lose. i recall him being a tough ole qb on a lot of seattle teams with little talent much like archie was with the saints ...
