For using gay slurs on his Twitter account.

The Kansas City Chiefs and the National Football League are continuing to investigate the alleged comments made by Larry Johnson. Until that review is complete, the Chiefs have instructed Larry to refrain from practicing with the Chiefs or participating in other team activities. A decision regarding Larry's status will be made once the investigation has concluded.

*sigh* The PC police are in full force. What "investigation?" If it's his twitter account, then he probably did it himself. I doubt he'll deny it.

Did he mention anything about tacoes, or did he sleep with Ziggy?

Vince Lombardi is rolling over in his grave. So is Dave Kopay, but for different reasons. Pretty soon people will be charged for calling someone white. Ridiculous, lets just play football.

this is so stupid, you cant say anything anymore

Anyone is free to say whatever they want, just like people are free to disassociate themselves with people who say things they find offensive. It goes both ways. No one should expect to say things they know offends some people and then expect people who are offended not to exercise their own freedom of speech in protest.

Why do so many people seem to forget that with freedom comes responsibility and accountability?

So pretty much, GLAAD has the NFL by the cojones and is pressuring them into taking action.

Isn't this the same guy who said he doesn't play as hard for a white coach?

The last thing this dude needs is a Twitter account. In fact, that's the last thing anybody needs.

Listen, everyone here knows that if you are a representative of a company, you CAN'T say whatever you want. This isn't like the guy that works the fryer at McDonalds, this guy is one of the faces of a major business. I'm surprised it took this long for anything to happen. And for the record, I disagree with the punishment.

he has freedom of speech. But the Chiefs have freedom not to want to listen to his speech. Works both ways. The Chiefs are paying him millions, and can expect that he must abide by the terms of his contract, which includes no detrimental actions to the team (he also called out the coach, which is a separate ground for dismissing him). By the way, if you use that speech at your work, your employer will get sued for a hostile work environment...finally, he has become a clear team cancer, no matter what the content of his speech, it's causing team turmoil, and the chiefs have the absolute right to terminate his contract...as an aside, I think he's despicable for what he said, which is a free right in this country. Play football? that's what he should be doing instead of twittering vile insults..

Not to mention he was talking smack about his head coach on Twitter for the whole world to see. I doubt the organization is too pleased with that either.

If it was the NFL doing this I would have a problem with it, but since it is his employer, they have the right not to be represented by such actions.

Interesting that so few understand what "freedom of speech" even means.
