I ask for a thought, prayer or blessing for a fallen New Orleanian who was taken from us way too soon. I ask that you guys take a moment of silence and watch the news spot that the Baton Rouge NBC news station did on the day we all said good bye to a great man, James de Brueys.

I graduated with him from Brother Martin in 2006. 3 days after we got our senior rings, Katrina hit. I know senior classes always have a special bond and unity but I know you guys can understand why our bond was so special. It hurts me so bad inside to know a man living his life for others (the reason he was even lost at sea in the first place is because, like always, James put everyone else in the front seat and selflessly gave his time, love, education, intelligence... his life to others. He was in that area with an organization called WorldTeach teaching English to kids who were not fortunate enough to live the life we had as teens.) He was taken from this world way too soon. The only peace I can really find is that at 22, my man lived and loved and laughed enough for 5 lifetimes.
He will live on forever through truly original things. Oh, and when I say original, I really do mean original. He grew the most obnoxious, ridiculous, most hilarious looking beard and went to Alaska for the International Beard Contest. I guarantee if you watch this clip you will instantly just like the guy without even knowing him. This clip is a news coverage piece that a local Baton Rouge station did on his beard and the whole international beard contest - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FIE4UFk-F80
Thanks guys for your time. This is just another sobering reminder how unexpected this life can be and you have to remember to always tell your loved ones how you feel.
I will end this thread on that note and also one last tale/nugget of my mans originality and humor --
If you watch the news clip of his beard, right towards the end when the anchors are all dicussing you will hear the meteorologist (guy all the way to the left) eagerly sputter out a statement at around 2:12. I now realize that he wanted to say this before they cut to the next story or commercial and when finally really listening to what he said, it might be even more hilarious than his beard:
"Every year he celebrates Cinco de Mustache... he has a big party, and then, 3 days later... they have Ocho de Mullet"
Final Update/ Funeral Coverage -
