LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell has signed with agent Eric Metz, a league source tells us.
And this means that Russell will forego his final year of eligibility and enter the 2007 draft. Once a college player signs with an agent, there's no going back.
Coming off of a great performance in the Sugar Bowl, the 6-6, 260-pound Russell could be one of the top picks in April. He might even leapfrog Notre Dame's Brady Quinn.

Even though I don't trust anything from profootballtalk.com, I think they're right about this one.

I think he has a very good chance at leapfrogging Quinn.
JaMarcus has all of the features you want in a QB. Great Arm, can scramble, tall , etc....

pretty good QB, but he reminds me of AB for some reason.

in other news: Tennessee Junior WR Robert Meachem declared earlier today...pretty good WR.

I'm not surprised, especially considering what happened with Matt Leinart last year. He was supposed to be one of the top picks, went back to USC, and ended up dropping in the draft. JaMarcus had his coming out party at the Sugar Bowl, and barring poor combines I see him as probably the top pick in April.

Nah.. he reminds me Daunte Culpepper.

He also reminds me of Daunte Culpepper ... without the mobility. Which might not bode well in the pros if he doesn't have an elite receiver by his side.

The key will be having someone that can get behind defenses. If JaMarcus has that, he'll hit that guy two or three times a game for big plays.

Exactly right. Plus his release is long and slow and he isn't terribly accurate. I like him, but i wouldn't rate him as high as I would've rated Culpepper coming out of UCF in '99.

He's more mobile than you think. He prefers to pass from the pocket but he can move for a guy his size.

I sure didn't take him very long to pray about it. I guess Jesus told him to make his 10% check to TITHE. ;)

Metz is the guy that Joey Galloway fired back after his big holdout in Seattle and Laurence Maroney fired and then re-signed back with last year. He's out of Arizona somewhere.

He's black?

YEA BUT I THINK THATS CUZ HE CHANGED HIS # TO 2, BUT YEA HE IS CULPEPPER BUT BIGGER, THEY BOTH HAVE STRONG ARMS BUT ACCURACY IS SUSPECT

Well there are good reasons for you to equate JR to Brooks. If you watched the fumble and interception in the game vs. Notre Dame, it looked like classic Brooks at work (especially the fumble). He has all the raw ability but has the propensity to goof it up from time to time, leaving you scratching your head. Sound familiar?

I think he will fare better than AB, but how much better remains to be seen. He has a lot more heart than AB, thats for sure. But that's not saying much.

Yeah, almost 70% completion is kinda sorry.

yea he did awesome in college when it came to completion%(also alotta short passes), , but can he always put the ball where it needs to be, and in the NFL you hafta be better, the game is faster, i think he is a top 3 pick, i just dont think he will be one of those qb's that youd be proud to say he is accurate
