N/S Jon Kitna’s son arrested for child porn (1 Viewer)

I get it and it most cases I would agree with you but in this case we are talking about a backup QB who has thrown 14 career passes for a 6-6 SEC team who will not be playing football anytime soon if ever again compared to a 3 time Pro Bowl QB who played in the fourth largest tv market who got traded for 3 first round picks.

Not to mention the differences in what they have been accused of. Jalen's case seems pretty cut and dry. There is no he said/she said that will drag this out. Everyone here agrees what he did is horrible and should be in prison for a very long time and will never come close to playing in an NFL game. So there isn't' much for people to say in this thread other than "wow that's horrible. Hope he rots in prison" and move on.
It's no so much the number of pages on a thread, but rather the comments. Some members quickly went into a mode of possibly finding a defense for him if there was one to be found. Some don't get that treatment. They are guilty from the very start. Very few here defended Deshaun the day the story broke and there was no proof like in Kitna's case. It's the way of the land. Nothing new.

There seems to be a sweeping under the rug for incidents with some and a perpetual blasting of others. Some stories quickly go away and others are the headline for a long time. It's no surprise when you realize which stories get the most press. I'm not making assumptions here, it's pretty obvious. Chad Wheeler beat the brakes off his girlfriend after violating a court order and it got spoken about for a day or two. Jerry Jones being a part of a mob of folks is currently being swept under the rug and being charged to being a sign of the times. Others aren't so fortunate.
I never heard about the Chad Wheeler thing but I am going to be up front and say that could be a solid point in your favor. I did go look it up and I see that he is blaming it on his bipolar disorder. The woman he beat said she wasn’t sure but it didn’t sound like it was being ruled out. But you’re also talking about a guy who is no lonelier in the NFL and is irrelevant especially in regards to Watson. Watson is a super star that may or may not have fallen from grace. I would also add that when there was a chance the Saints May sign him this board went ape sheet, including myself, wanting him.

As for Jerry tell me 100% he was there for negative reasons. Can you? I saw the photo. I think it could go sleighed way if I am being honest. What punishment would you like him to receive? Honestly man I respect the heck out of you. I am not a black man so my sensitivity to these issues are set much lower than yours.

I posted the AB story but from my perspective it’s big because this was a guy that had it all. He was amazing and had such a high ceiling. So I am a little interested in the guy and tend to follow him.

I defended him. I defended him when he had an opportunity to come here. I defended him because he stayed out of the media, he stayed out of the spotlight. He didn’t pay these women off and because of those things I believed him. Once he started paying them off I stopped defending him. I found him more believable when he was sticking to his guns. I don’t know if he is truly guilty of anything. I am not calling to ban him or suspend him. He has served his punishment and is moving on. But because I don’t find him as innocent as I did I just don’t want to support him.

I think it was his response to the photo and his track record when it comes to race. He lost some lifelong fans in my family when the whole Kaep thing was going down. Telling his players they couldn't kneel and if they did there would be consequences. He has never been one to publicly push for change. He is arguably the most powerful NFL owner so he has the juice to impact these discussions, but seems to only be interested if it affects his bottom line.

Add to that "America's team" has never had a black coach which would be a reflection of America. They aren't the only franchise that can say this. Our beloved Saints fall into this category as well, but we also have never had the national presence to make an impact like they do. When the whole kneeling thing was going down our organization showed support to our black players and they were allowed to express themselves however they needed to without fear of punishment. Charging that photo to curiosity is not an excuse for me and many others. He grew up in Arkansas. Racist people and predicaments were not foreign to him, but he seemed to take a stance at 14 years old that he still takes today. Standing on the side and not being an engine of change. The 14 year old version of him didn't have much affluence, but the Jerry Jones of the past 40 years does. Yet their actions and contributions to moving the needle are similar. I am not labeling him a racist so let's get that clear. But when the opportunity to impact America's minorities fight for equality in a positive way knocks on his door, he generally does not answer.

I'm also not ignorant to the media's desire to push the stories that have the biggest names attached to them. They are in a ratings and views business. So it's not the air time that necessarily rubs me the wrong way. It's the vitriol that come at our folks with. It's the comments that are made.

For example, Kyrie was labeled all kinds of things, but Jeff Bezos wasn't asked a single question. So the richest man in America can profit off of a documentary and continue to sell it, but Kyrie is the one who is anti-semitic and full of hate for sharing a link to it. He makes nothing off of it, but has been hammered more than those that do. And look how they downplayed the Hebrew Israelites support of him. Reporting that about 100 men showed up in support. Did you see them? That was way more than 100 men. This happened in the backyard of the NY times and they were there for two days, but their reporting of it did not include any videos or photos that would show how strong his support was. Instead they label those men a hate group and downplay how large and organized they were. It's just the status quo.

They did the same thing to the Nation of Islam in the 60's and the Black Panthers. Many don't even realize that the Black Panthers were never violent towards anyone that wasn't violent towards them. At least not in the beginning. They were a community group that led drives for food and clothes for the community. They toted their guns to show that they were protecting their community from all of the police brutality. I'll leave you with this. J Edgar Hoover said America's biggest threat to it's internal security was the Black Panthers. You know what he didn't say? That their Breakfast program fed 50,000 kids across the country or how much safer residents felt having their protection.

He paid them so he could get back to playing. I had a lady accuse me of stealing from a dealership I no longer worked for. The dealership pressed charges against me. I had text messages proving that I returned her funds to her. I had phone records and GPS reports from the day I met up with her showing that we were in the same place at the same time with text messages from her thanking me for meeting her to save her some drive time. The dealership gave her the money she claimed was stolen and then came after me for it. I had every intention of taking it to trial as my proof was rock solid and undeniable. I ended up settling and paying the money because with an open theft case I could not obtain employment from others. My settling had nothing to do with my guilt, but rather what the case was stopping me from being able to do.
