N/S Justin Gilbert released (1 Viewer)

Aaron Glenn coached him for two seasons in Cleveland and still couldn't get good production from him.

I'd consider him for KR/PR if he has any desire to play.

Good job pointing out the Coach Glenn connection. If we don't bring him in, or if we decide to sign him, we can know that his position coach had insight on the move. I am comfortable either way.

Justin Gilbert of the Cleveland Browns Described as Aloof and a Loner that Angers His Teammates | The Big Lead

Gilbert, who has started only two games at cornerback since being drafted, is described as aloof, withdrawn, and having a false sense of entitlement that “rubs people the wrong way.” Last year, he missed a mandatory team bus, had to be located 90 minutes later, and then according to the story, a teammate had to be restrained because “Gilbert stood there smiling, eating candy.”

Among the other allegations leveled against Gilbert are that he is often a loner at the team facility, that he pushed away veterans like Joe Haden that tried to mentor him, and that he is never asked to participate in community events because of his personality.

I'd bring him in. His home is Huntsville TX so he might prefer playing in the south (Ref: Nick Fairley). He's very fast! Track star in high school. We need CB help and we definitely need a kickoff returner. He had 11 kickoff returns for touchdowns at Oklahoma State. Set the Big 12 Conference record for kickoff return touchdowns in a season with six his senior year. Yea I've read the bad news, but maybe he turns his attitude and outlook on football around. Bring him in, chat with his former coach (Glenn), see where he's at in life ...
Nick Fairley showed more than flashes of greatness in Detroit. Everyone knew he could play, it was motivation and being a pro day in day out that he had to get. Haven't heard or seen Gilbert flash anything since he's been in the league.

Well someone that falls asleep in meetings is sadly but truthfully hurts that. So pass on it.
