N/S - Rush Limbaugh: New Rams Owner??? --- MERGED (1 Viewer)

Personally I'm not trying to exonerate him for anything. I just think the real problem isn't Rush, it's with his legion of ditto-heads that keep feeding off his rhetoric and continue to add to his fortune.

It must be statements like this that lead to that big red star you've got!

:plus-un2:

I hope people still aren't miffed that Rush is not going to get an opportunity to join one of the largest socialist collective enterprises our country has.

The only people that should be upset are those of us who really appreciate irony.

Well, part of the problem is Rush (IMHO).

Afterall, even if he himself isnt a racist he is fanning the flames of racism, giving that type of rhetoric an air of legitimacy by being broadcast and listened to by so many people.

Maybe the bigger problem is the dittoheads, afterall, without them and the money they bring to his stations, Limbaugh would no longer have a platform to speak on. I can respect that argument even if i think the blame can be evenly distributed.

But its really an exercise in futility arguing which may be worse, the speaker or the audience (no ones doing it yet, i'm just saying). I do think we can all agree that both are part of the larger problem of racial tension in this country and the even larger problem of diminishing civility and the polarization of our civil discourse.

I can agree with that. Especially your last sentence. You friggin' jerk.:hihi:

Rush is a racist and his own quotes prove it. There are two pages of racist remarks with links to audio proving that he said these things. Why do so many people make excuses for these type of statements? Could this type of willful ignorance be the result of one persons inner racist beliefs seeking to justify overt racially motivated hate speech?

Out of a sense of fairness you probably should allow for the fact that some people are going to learn that at least some of the statements credited to Rush were not made by him at all and then just discount the rest, unless they have clear evidence that he said them.

That's the problem with over reaching, one loses credibility and any legitimate points are lost as well. It's the same thing with watching a Michael Moore or Oliver Stone film. Once you know that parts are lies, you discount the rest.

are you colorblind? :)

Now, that's a good question. I don't think I'm technically color blind. I've been accused of it, but I do know red from green. I call anything beige and have terrible color sense. My designer and decorator tell clients that if they ever get, hear or accept color advice from me that they're idiots or to run and my wife says I'm color ignorant.

BTW, what color is that star? Salmon or orange?

Either Almond or Pecan brown.

it's supposed to be the 'Bronze Star' that he was awarded-- but to me, and others who commented when he first got it-- it looks brown.. i think someone referred to it as a Turd Star or something.

me, i think i'm blue/black colorblind... i first realized it when i was 11 or 12 and the Bears played Super Bowl XX in NOLA; Mom took me down to the team hotel to get autographs, we stopped on the way to pick up some 'Super Bowl Shuffle' memorobilia :)covri:) and i made a remark about what i thought were their team colors of Black and Red... she bet me that the colors were actually Blue and Orange, and when we got to the team hotel we asked some fans from Chicago who confirmed, to my amazement, that she was right.

I don't listen to rush that much since I am work when he is on. But when I was in college I would tune in while I was driving. From what I remember doesnt he have a black guy sit in for him a lot when he is out. That would strike me as odd if he was racist as well as a bad buisness move if his audiance is very racist. I just find it aggravating when I was talking to a family member and they were spouting off how racist rush is. I asked them if they ever listened to him, and they told me no. Have a opinon all you want, I just cant stand it when people are parroting stuff.

Except Limbaugh didn't make comments about McNabb, he made comments about the sports media and their treatement of McNabb.

Dude ...don't bark up that tree. Most are not smart enough to see the difference. Just let it go.

Make no mistake, Hush Bimbo did this purely for ratings: a complete publicity stunt. He had no serious intentions of buying the franchise. I bet it worked, too. I didn't look and don't care, but I'm sure his ratings went up this week.
