N/S Sports books brace for Rodgers retirement (1 Viewer)

First off, How do you balme the guy who wins MVP 3 times, and loose in the NFC title games. Seems to me if he can keep winning MVPs, but GB can't get past the NFC title game. That is all on GB. And you blame Rodgers. Wake up, you are contradicting your own argument. Second, the myth of QBs taking a pay cut. Drew , Brady, Wilson etc. never gave money back, to get talent. Where do you get this nonsense from?

People blame it on Brees, so why not Rogers?

Rodgers has been an elite QB for a decade + and has won a Lombardi Trophy and several MVP’s but last time I checked football is a team sport. No one player is better than the whole. A great leader can uplift lesser players to achieve higher potentials, yes. It’s not like Rodgers has been uncompensated. Hell, he’s earned 240M+ on the field not accounting for endorsements. Almost pauper status. His antics are tired. Like it or not he’s still employed by the Packers and should abide by his contract. He’s all bent out of shape because Green Bay drafted his possible hair apparent. He was drafted when Favre was still playing at an elite level and spent three season pine riding prior to taking the reins. His antics are child-like just exposing how self-centered and selfish he really is.
He and Brady are divas. I know people focus on the behavior of WRs but QBs get sensitive as well. The only difference is that Brady has backed his talk with rings. GB has kept a solid roster and every year they have been SB favorites like we were with Drew.

Exactly!!! The point I was trying to make especially about pay cuts that both Brady (who has 7 rings, NFL 3 MVPs) & Brees (who has SB 1 ring, SB MVP, & countless NFL records) could have or had easily, single handedly demanded a Russell Wilson, Kirk Cousins, Matthew Stafford, Dak Prescott, Patrick Mahomes & yes even Aaron Rodgers (who has 1 SB, 3 MVPs) kind of money on average of $35-45M per year. But they choose not. Especially Brady. On Brees's final contract was barely $25M annually & comparing that to $30M+, thats a steal for us. Maybe you're right about one thing, Brees & Brady dont necessarily give back, but they take lesser money than they actually worth. Which is contribute back into the roster to compete for a championship.

Secondly, the reason why Green Bay made it to those NFCCG title games was because of Rodgers. MVPs or not. And they didn't have a stellar defense. Especially in last year's NFCCG, where the defense was decent enough to picked off Brady 3 times to keep the game close til the very end. And Rodgers could of won the game for them if he woulda ran it for a 1st down to milk the clock & score the TD. When time a team loses, who are the first two people that the media blames first? Either the quarterback or the head coach. We lost to the Bucs in the playoffs, who did everyone blamed the lost on???

Yea, but Aaron is a 37yr old QB. he has at least 3, maybe 4yr to make that back. RB Bell aged like gas station milk. Not at all the same thing. Aaron will make $50 million a year at seasons end. When you have $240 million it isn't about the money. It's about winning another super bowl on his terms. You could be right, but the vib I get is he was already prepared to walk away.
and there you go. As stated, no way he was sitting out this year. It wasn't going to happen.

You were correct. They found a way. Green Bay blinked, and agreed to what he wanted. GB gets him to play this year, and Rogers gets GB to void his contract and agree to trade him at the end of the season.

You can't trade a voided contract.

You can't trade a voided contract.
I beg to differ..........

The agreement in principle would include an approximation of the following conditions that the two sides now are finalizing to alleviate and address some of Rodgers' issues before the opening of Tuesday's training camp:

* The 2023 year in Rodgers' contract -- the last one in his current deal -- would be voided, with no tags allowed in the future.

* The Packers would agree to review Rodgers' situation at the end of this season.

* Rodgers' contract would be adjusted with no loss of income to give the Packers more cap room now.

* Mechanisms will be put in place to address Rodgers' issues with the team.

If Packers officials sign off on their willingness to trade Rodgers, and the agreement is finalized soon, here's the biggest concession the reigning MVP will receive: the freedom to decide where he wants to play in 2022.
