N/S Teams Are Now Allowed To Accept Sponsorships From Sportsbooks, Allow Betting Lounges (1 Viewer)

The Sad thing is

All this Gambling in sports today, and Pete Rose is still banned from MLB.

We live in a world were you can use technology to steal the opposing teams signs and not get so much as a fine or suspension.

Yet

Your still banned so many years later for betting on your own team to win a ball game.

Rob Manfred and Roger Goodell must be pretty good friends
And in pro football, guys like Vick who did the crime and did the time are allowed to be part of the NFL experience. I think Rose has paid his dues. How about it baseball? Quit acting holier than thou. And less we forget. The Astros were not stripped of their championship, by the way. Hypocrites.

As long as they don’t mess up the uniforms like in the soccer leagues across europe...

cant stand those ugly jerseys with sponsor logos all over it
I think it’ll end up like the NBA unis with a small logo which isn’t that bad.

What are the odd that gambling will negatively effect the game experience?

Very high

It's already been happening for the last 3 years.

It's no coincidence that when sports betting took over the country, that now all of sudden referees of the sport have become incompetent.

As long as Goodell is the Commissioner of the NFL, the NFL is going to lack integrity.

All he cares about is stacking his and the owners pockets

I'm going to say something that may seem outrageous to some and ho hum to others. 20-years ago, I know for a fact that players were getting bought off by organized crime. It didn't cost as much as I thought to buy a point spread. With this new NFL legislation, what was left of the integrity of the game will likely be flushing down the toilet. wow!

Gambling laws are more liberal down here, meaning it dominates every aspect of Australian sport. You'll have bookmakers appearing on TV commercials moments before AFL games start spruiking the line, H2H markets, most disposals, most goals, etc. and you can do it all instantly by the click of a button on your smartphone. We must have 10-15 different corporate bookmakers who advertise in-game, during breaks, on signage at venues, etc. My concern with it is really the impact it has on kids. It's a worry when 10 year-old kids are talking in terms of favouritism based on line/spread because that's what they see on the TV.

Also, I've been excluded from using the services of most Australian corporate bookmakers because my W/L record over an extended period of time is such that they do not want to take my wagers any more. Entirely lawful for them to do it too because they are private businesses that do not have to accept my custom, which just seems wrong, but it just shows how they are only interested in the business of people who lose. Funny anecdote about that - myself and three other friends put $200 each into a gambling pot to give us $800 which I then had control over but for which we all had input. We had a really good run and got the overall value up to $30,000 or so betting on second tier soccer competitions here because team/strategy information was not properly built into the price. In saying that, we had one dreadful weekend where we lost about $10,000 on bet365 and all I received was an email asking if I would like to consider a deposit limit. They talk about being committed to responsible gambling but it's a joke. They're crooks.

Anyway, this is a bit of a slippery slope, for mine. I enjoy the occasional wager on the NFL for fun more than to make a profit, but it does not need to be in everybody's face.

The Mercedes Benz/Draft Kings/Oschner Super Some for your complete game experience. Drive to the dome in your Mercedes, bet the house in the Draft Kings lounge, leave in an ambulance to Oschner after the resulting heart attack.

The tradeoff is you get to watch each half of a soccer game commercial free.

If the NFL ever goes to sponsored uniforms, you know that they won't cut 15 seconds of commercials in exchange for it. So I agree with you that I hope it never comes to the NFL.

You are so right about this. Pete Rose not being in the hof is a damn shame.
