That says alot... instead of them drafting a young stud that can step in for Gonzales.. they'd rather beg Gonzo to stay. Mind you gonzo said this was his last year BEFORE this past season started so its not like Gonzo sprung this on them after they lost to SF.
Way to go Falcons.
He's not going to win a SB with the Falcons. Might as well call it a career. A stellar one.
Running back Michael Turner said that he told Gonzalez that he needs to come back and defend the title if the Falcons go all the way. Gonzalez’s answer?
“He was like, ‘No, no, no, no,’” Turner said.
If Gonzalez is smart, he'll retire while he's still on top of his game and healthy. I've seen too many great players try to hang on and end up being injured or disenchanted by the experience--Montana, Stabler, Earl Campbell, Derrick Brooks, etc. Dimitroff is kind of pathetic to beg him to change his mind when he obviously feels like he's already given everything he has to the game. Shows how much their FO cares about their players.
I don't think you understand. They are the CLOWNS. Is that not enough?LOL. If this was Jimmy Graham retiring at 36 after a 100 catch season, and Loomis talked him into staying we'd be gleeful and crediting Loomis with brilliant persuasion abilities.
When it's the Falcons attempting to fill a major offensive hole, it's a desperate move and lack of player concern.
Just admit what it is.....we are rooting for retirement of a still-productive Hall of Famer from a division rival, nothing more, nothing less. There is nothing immoral with asking Tony to play another season.
