NBA Playoffs 2019 (2 Viewers)

Toronto's season just got saved from itself by Kawhi Leonard making a long distance end of the court shot. Pistol Pete Maravich is somewhere smiling in Heaven looking down on one of his players making miracles happen in the Great White North.

Kawhi is a generational talent. Without him that Raptors team is next to nothing. IMO.

Ibaka was huge tonight too. They don’t win without his offensive glass dominance.

OMG my favorite player, Kawhi Leonard!!!!!!
Ball bounces 4 times & finally goes in & the place just erupted. It seemed as though everyone stood up & started screaming at once. It was such a magical scene!

They have replayed it already 30 times on TV.
Made me cry, it was so much fun seeing all of that high energy celebration ?

Love it ?
Love it ❤️
Love it?
That huge crowd all rising immediately in unison & screaming & clapping for Kawhi Leonard was amazing energy. Then Kawhi getting mauled by all of his buddies was just fun. What a spectacular way to end a game.

I'm not trying to be too much of a cynical bastage here(God knows, I know myself enough to be one) but considering there were 20,000 fans screaming, shouting, and yelling at the top of their lungs at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto after Leonard made his now-famous last second GW shot while Gasol whispered encouragement and strength to Embiid, I don't know if Embiid heard it or not or was too dejected or worn out to really absorb the significance of what Gasol was trying to say? For Joel Embiid and Sixers, this is the second straight year they've lost in the Eastern Conference Semifinals and this year's defeat was infinitely more painful and devastating. Losses like this sting and can remain so for a long time, so much some teams never really recover for years as contenders. Don't get me wrong, I was rooting for Toronto in this series and in this postseason, but until maybe 5-6 years ago, Raptors were seen as a curiosity bubble-team, meaning they might make the playoffs once in a while or maybe win their division every 4-5 years or so, but they lacked the star power, depth, coaching, intelligent, bold FO leadership to make long, consistent postseason runs year after year. Until this season in some critics minds, I disagree the Raptors have had 5 consecutive 50-win seasons, their GM is seen as one of the smartest, most intelligent minds regarding talent, trades, and FA pickups in the NBA. And don't be fooled by the media's praising Nick Nurse, he's a good, decent NBA-level HC so far but this isn't his team. His predecessor was the one who mostly built this team from scratch and was actually named NBA's Coach of the Year before being fired a week later last summer.

He inherited an already good team with one great addition that kind of underachieved in the postseason because they were in the way of Lebron's Cavs, who beat everyone except Golden State.

that game was just.... too much. I lost my voice, lost my mind. I can't imagine what it would have been like to be in the building. There haven't been many shots like that, under those circumstances, with that sort of bouncing drama, that I've ever seen.

That ball had no business going in.

The only reason it did was because Kawhi had to put it up so high to get it over Embiid that it wasn't as flat as his 3-pointers usually are. And he got the bounce.

Even watching replays, I was surprised when it went in.

Their defense was incredible all game, except a single stretch. The shots weren't falling.

And I've no real expectation to take down Milwaukee. But if I don't come away with a series win vs. the Bucks and I get a conference finals and *that* shot, I'll take it.

as for Dwayne Casey... I was not a fan of his. This is a new team and while there are similarities to the old regime, it's a very different team and pace. There is no Valenciunas standing there, trying to back his way in to another bad shot - where offensive sets go to die. There was no Demar putting his head down and trying to kill teams from midrange. Or Demar and JV going 2-man while the rest of the team tries to find a place on the floor to go.

It was stale, old basketball. I was watching the game pass by the Raptors.

I think Nurse is a decent coach, not great. Not in the top tier in the NBA at all. But I'll also take him over what Casey trotted out there 7 days out of the week.

what a night....

I was thinking of you last night after the game.

I watched and after the shot hit the rim the first time and bounced high up, I turned away from the TV thinking he had front-rimmed it, said to my wife "overtime." What seemed like an eternity later she said "no, it went in."

As a Saints fan and a Sixers fan, I can tell you that one ranks up there with Vernon Davis or Marcus Williams plays. Of course both of those Saints games were marred by lousy play in the beginning like the Sixers had and they put themselves where they needed to be at the end only to have it lost with some highlight reel play.

I'll tell you, experiencing some of these recent Saints playoff losses certainly prepared me for dealing with this Sixers loss.

Both these teams are great and if everyone returns on both teams you should have a nice trio of Philly, Toronto, and Milwaukee battling it out in the east for years to come. As Golden State gets older and eventually breaks up it wouldn't surprise me to see each of these three teams get a title in the next 4-6 years.

same. I looked at my wife, and said, "Welp, overtime." And it just bounced. Again. And again.

"If everyone returns..." Pretty big if. I think there's a good chance that NYK, Boston, Philly, and Toronto look different next year. I think Middleton, Lopez, and Mirotic look around and realize what they have in Milwaukee on the floor with them and go nowhere.
